Videos of the Week / Re: VotW: 10 November 2008: Arjan

Pretty sure its 9 man!

Well they are all straight so it must be an even number...and it sure as hell isn't 8 (or 12 by the way). So my guess...ha, guess... it IS 10.

I don't really concentrate hard when diaboloing ... Being relaxed things are alot easier ;)

If you can do a few cool flips easily, it would be a good idea to do them almost straight away. The audience will love it, and the judges might be impressed too...

Still, I think the sharpes might do well since their passing is so coordinated.

But that's if they get far enough into their act to show that. My routine is tightly choreographed to the music...but i managed to get the diabolo sped up and got half a trick out before i was stopped.
The unfortunate point is that they have made up their mind about you before you've even stepped out there, simply down to what you do.
You could be the world's greatest, but solely based on the fact you juggle, you will fail.
Especially as in the American one you guys have the Hoff, who openly admits he hates jugglers.

Do you like to be made to feel like a complete loser?
I know a number of diabolists (including myself) who tried out for Britain's got lasted over 30 seconds. I think i managed a whopping 10.

Followed by such delights as...
Simon - "We've seen plenty of kids doing this already"
Me - "but you haven't seen ME do it"
Peirs - "well we have now"

Simon - "Throwing something high to dance music is not impressive"
Me - "I had no intention of throwing it high"
Simon - "what was that then?"
Me (i'd thrown it high in disgust, after all 3 buzzers went off) - "That was an expression of disappointment"

So yeah, by all means go for it...but please be ready to feel like punching someone.

Some advice if you are thinking about it:
- Look good. Wear a proper costume and make-up. Looking like you do it professionally will help you no-end. Being dressed in practice clothes or a half-arsed costume like just all black, will instantly put them off.
- Do something big straight away! If you can, get a vertax-geno into the routine in like the first 5-10 seconds...if they still buzz you instantly after that, then obviously they just can't be bothered with you as predicted.
- Don't use dance music. Pick something interesting, and try to choreograph to it, it'll make a bigger impact.
- Don't expect anything.

Hurrah, still being talked about!
Yeah i don't take diabolo to my practice anymore, and haven't for a while. But i take it to juggling club, just to make sure i can still do stuff really  :P
I also practice my routine, but that's it.

Good effort.  Here's all I could find.

Hi All,

Just a reminder that the third annual Nottingham One Dayer (NAJC3):

"Oh No! Not Another Juggling Convention"

will be held on the 1st March from 10am to 1am'ish

located at the Nottingham University Students Union Building.

This will be followed by a Tribe of Fundango juggling convention on the next
day - 2nd March - in the same place starting around 11am to 9pm (possibly
earlier start if you are really keen).

Details/ directions will be posted here soon:

Here's a preview of the show line up and there will be plenty of workshops:

Show Line Up - On no! Nott another juggling convention show

* Wes Peden - will be doing quite alot in the show with a few different acts

* Peter Ã…berg from Neo Circus University in Sweden - will be doing stuff
with Wes

* Apex Acrobatics - well the two ladies anyway

* Vux - Julien Vulliet doing a juggling act with a monkey in it... innit!

* Adrian Pole - something not to U2, but with a knee slide ending (special request)

No not Zanzibar (and what is it with French Julians being called something else?) i know who you mean but don't know a name.   Anyone who does goto Strawberry fair though, come over to the circus tent and watch the show (the circus show, not any of the incredibly lame cabaret that goes on between shows)

Throw it high,
Do it around your back,
Throw it high,
Do it around your leg,
And you should probably throw it high a few times.

I think i made the right one...

To minimize complaints i kept it short, and used different props. I hope
you like it.

Let me know what you think. Good, bad, ugly, whatever.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Yeah.  Ryo told me it was terrible. Tempei told me the same. The DVD might be ok, i think it was just the hanging out with passepasse...

EDIT:  Ok i just watched it... i think they meant the DVD as well. passepasse are going to completely ruin what could be an amazing collab DVD.  Oh and they successfully spelled someone's name wrong again! First it was Rio Yabe, and now Tempei Karakawa. Things can only get better eh...
