Al, no offense, but what you were doing just can't be called "good hovers".
look here:
at about 1:35, your hover barely moved the diabolos.. that only makes the wrap opening harder..
Hover is meant to give you control of the 3, before opening the wrap. It makes the wrap opening easier because you get more time, and you can also time the opening better this way.
Anyways, i'd also suggest to learn how to hover. It helps you solve the speed problem untill you learn speed wraps, which really helps you improve your 3.
good luck!

you could technically hold 3 with the double armstall, pass it into one hand, then throw a 4th diabolo and start..
Will.. Wrap starts? crazy..
What about 4D hover? you need a really long string though.
MY fts and unfeed are gettin better.

Extremely very nice. If runs like this one are frequent, it shouldn't take more then 2-3 weeks of training untill you'll be able to do about 100 otts.

Hey and what about the qualifying 4 low run? i counted like 10-12 in there :P
He's definately amazing. Surprising me every time we meet on the israely conventions..
You guys should come too  8)

Tricks / Re: 3 diabolo shuffle: help! (wrap start & asynch shuffle)
« on: July 02, 2008, 03:08:35 PM »
Yea. You should unwrap just when one diabolo leaves the string on the other side.
I think you should concentrate on the movement you have to do in order to keep the 2 spinning in one hand for a long time. this would give you the right feeling. This movement is an Up-Down movement with the weak hand. you should unwrap on the same time you would've pushed up if you still had the 2 spinning with 1 hand.
I learned Hover start first, only came to understand how to open without it after a month or so..

3D took me like 2 months to learn, but i practiced ALOT (like 3-5 hours on some of the days).
I think there are a few things that can help (That's my theory)
1. You should focus on either Sync or Asynch. Choose one and focus on it. Don't switch between them all the time.

2. Try Disconnecting your mind from 2D. 3D is just so different, completely different. 2D moves don't work here, and you do have to move your hands all the time for it to work.

3. Get your wrap opening solid. Hover start worked for me here.
Once you have your opening solid, it doubles your successful tries. Try learning Hover, it takes no more then 1-2 weeks and it helps alot. (for the faster guys, i had it in like 5 days).

4. Even from the very beginning, try using one hand only (strong hand if u try Sync, weak hand if u try Async). It's harder to move both hands on the right timing, and this can really help you get it to go. you should move your working hand up and down on set time intervals, that means it should be about the same speed all the time. Bigger movements work better here.
On this step, you usually won't be able to keep your shuffle solid (maybe sync could, async is really difficult with one hand), But if your movement is based on set time intervals, the diabolos should move correctly once every few tries. For Sync users, turning your weak hand to the axle's direction really helps (Sticks go like this: |    ---- for righties)
Async users, try and keep your left hand straight, that's what most people do.
This 4th step is to help you understand How to actually move the diabolos on 3, so you can afterwards improve your movements and not have to learn from scratch (100% Luck based tries are extremely disappointing). You should start working on this from the very beginning, though it becomes much easier when your wrap start is solid so you don't waste your tries on unsuccessful starts.
As i said, this is only for you to understand how to move the diabolos, and you should later move on to moving both hand as explained on step 5.

5. Once you know how to move your diabolos with only one hand, add the other hand's movement. sync is possible with very small weak hand movements (which you don't really have to do on purpose, the hand moves by itself on this kind of sync due to the agressive strong hand movement).
Async needs both hands, though you can also do it with kinda small strong hand moves, while your weak hand does all you need.
Once you can move the diabolos with your chosen hand (as explained on step 4), adding the second hand's movement shouldn't be too hard. Once you get it, you'll finally be able to keep a shuffle going for long.

6. Train train train.
3D is all about training. You are going to have worse days, when nothing is gonna work, but remember to keep working hard, because tomorrow or the day after could be your lucky day, when you'll finally get it to go for the first time. The progress usually comes after a few hours of work on the new day.

Keep working, it'll work in the end.
Good Luck! ;)

« on: May 27, 2008, 03:14:13 PM »
never got into just spinning, however i was working on vertax genos with 360's underneith. its easiest with a double geno and ive gotten a few triples, however, ive never tried 720's. a two stage might be interesting as well
I couldn't quit understand what's this variation.. is it just spinning 360 after the genocide? or is there something more complicated?
