Maybe the sound was messed up on the IJA tape.

Yeah that could be it, but it´s not just the sound of the Diabolo. When he drops his Diabig it bounces high straight up. Whenever I drop mine it only does a little tiny bounce at best.

I saw on the video of his workshop that he said that he had modified his Diabigs. I thought that maybe that´s why it bounced so high. Does anyone know how he had modified them? Or was he talking about his Henry´s?

1102 Policy & Feedback / "SEARCH" guide?
« on: March 13, 2006, 12:37:06 AM »
I don´t know if this has been requested before, but if I could use the "SEARCH" properly I wouldn´t need it (and I would know if it had already been requested).

Anyway, maybe it would be good if someone put a guide up on how to get the most out of the search function on the forum (or maybe a link to a good guide). I openly admit that I suck at both computers and english so everytime I try to search for something specific I get hits for every thread on the forum so it doesn´t help anyway. Also, I don´t know what some on the stuff that are mentioned on the searchpage mean (like "wildcard") so that also makes it difficult.

It might seem unnessesary but I think it could actually help some people (including myself) to explain the "SEARCH" and its functons in greater detail. Also, that might help people to find the right threads to ask questions in.

I am sorry if this has been suggested before (or if there´s too much hassle with a guide).

Tricks / Re: S-Fan corrections, stability, tips?
« on: March 13, 2006, 12:08:03 AM »
Sometimes I just keep doing the regular fan for fun even though the left Diabolo has stopped. Then suddenly it can regain spin again because it´s ended up on the dark side for some imo "mysterious" reason.

Does anyone know how this works or can anyone explain how this is possible? I just can´t get my head around how it can transfer to the other side of the string during constant rotation (and constant stringcontact).

Finally, a direct download link. I´ve been trying to get bittorrent to work but still know too little about computers.

Thank you Chris_ . :D

Videos / Video of William! (from WJF)

I feel I´ve gotta ask. Why do the WJF put out vids of him doing such crappy tricks (besides his 3 stuff which looked pretty good)?

It´s obvious that he must have much harder and better stuff than that if he won against Ryo in a tech-competition. So why do the WJF put vids of him doing tricks that are very inferior to Yabes? Even though I could understand why they would want to save stuff for their DVD, they could at least show a few tricks that are worthy of first place.

P.S. I agree that his 3 sun look really cool. Is he able to combine it with an armstall, or is it too fast?

So this seems to be the right thread to ask this in:

Does anyone know what Diabolos Ryo used in the one Diabolo comp at the IJA 2004? They looked a bit like Diabigs but when he dropped it didn´t sound like it.

I know there is a video somewhere on the net but I don´t know where. I think I saw it in an archive called lutkus.

Do you mean turning 180 and accelrating with your left (or right if you´re a leftie)?

I think I´ve actually seen this done on stage, but it´s really hard to do a good orbit with both hands.

Thanks for replying.

I think it could be the router, but I don´t understand it so I will have to get my dad to help me with that:(

I have no idea what an ISP is but I changed the number 6881 to 6661. That didn´t help though.
What number is it supposed to be to work?

I´ve tried connecting with both utorrent and bittorrent and nothing happens except it says:?time left 0ul 0dl.

What could be the problem
(sorry if it´s obvious, I don´t understand computers very well)?

There´s the start where you spin it around the neck from the waist like the guy from Trespace (don´t know his name) does. Its a little tricky at first but it´s a cool way to enter.

wouldn´t it be possible to do a rocket start with two Diabolos, and then throw the third with your left hand (for righties)?

Gear / Quality problems with diabolo products
« on: October 25, 2005, 02:03:06 PM »
I find the new version of Henrys long carbon stick to break, bend and crack a lot easier than the old version with the thinner handles even though Henrys claim the thicker handle is supposed to make the stick more durable.

Does anyone here remember their old carbon sticks and how long they lasted? It´s really annoying to sometimes break week-old sticks on whip-duicide/genocide tricks (even though the new stick weight makes them better for these tricks). My old, thin sticks lasted for three years while the new ones sometimes lasts for only one week. Have anyone else also noticed this?

This isn´t meant to be a complaint on henrys though, since they are always really nice and helpful when you recieve a faulty product. I just wish they would have kept the old stickmodels as well as introducing the new ones.

I broke my nose a few weeks ago. I tried to take my 3d shower into a shuffle (which I haven´t been training much) and just above my head the Diabolos collided and two of them hit me straight in the face. It still hurts a lot and I wear tape on my nose now every night :(

Tricks / Antisuicide (was One common 2D trick. How to do it?)
« on: October 23, 2005, 02:19:38 PM »
I think Ryo Yabe did multiple vortex(?)suicides in his latest video. They look good and are really pretty easy. If you just get the movement down you can sometimes do dousins of them:)

As for the antisuicide, I am not quite sure what you´re talking about, but it might be in the video with that guy who does good swinging fans (sorry to forget his name). If it´s the one where you backwrap and then suicide to your left, I know both him and Tony does it. It´s in one of Tony´s vids from 2003, but I don´t think that´s on the internet anymore.

Great stuff. I especially liked that infinite genocide 2D combo.
I feel happier now that I´ve seen this video. Thank you!

Thank you for all replies. You´ve all been very nice and helpful to me:)

I tried to remember having a good posture yesterday when I practiced and my whip-duicides got easier to catch (because of the bigger arch in my back) so in that sense, they got faster because I don´t need to think about them as much now. Two Diabs didn´t change though and three Diabs is usually fast anyway. Guess I´ll need practice with two Diabs.

BTW: Is there any more vids of Makky on the internet besides the FEDC?
His two Diabolo tricks are really awesome.

The thing is, I want a fast and "graceful" technique. But if you are are tall and have normal length string, what´s normal for you might be long for other people so the technique should be slower. And having a very short string wouldn´t look good either. Also, I don´t worry about the difficulty of the technique, I worry about how it looks.

My technique is something of a mix between Jibe and Ryo Yabe´s. The thing is that they both have pretty fast techniques (don´t know how tall they are though). I think that the smaller person should get faster technique, since the normal string length to a short person will be short to a tall person.

I´ve seen exceptions (like Tony and Makky) that have a longer string but who are still fast, but their style is very different from mine so I still worry. Is there a vid somewhere of a tall person with fast technique?

BTW: My name is Diabolo88 on most places on the internet so I don´t think I´ll wanna change it everywhere. I´m not a racist though.

Ok, I have a strange and quite possibly stupid question I hope someone can answer.

I wonder what impact the bodies height and musclethickness have on your Diabolo.

I have a couple of older vids of Tony and  when I compare them to his new ones he has a lot less arm muscles and simply looks thinner. Personally I think his technique also looks both faster and better on these vids (even though he has new tricks now).

I also have noticed that the people I admire the most in terms of how their technique looks (not the difficulty), all seem to be pretty short and have very thin arms. This seems to affect the speed of the Diabs revolving. Is this true?

The reason I´m asking is because I´ve grown about seven centimeters the past few months and added about 4 kgs to my arms. I am now 193 centimeters long and weigh 75 kgs.

Will this affect my Diabolo technique at all and is being taller and bulkier an advantage or a disadvantage in terms of looks of the technique? Obviously, a chesthigh string for a taller person is longer than it is for the shorter I mean. Also, about how tall are the MFP and Ryo Yabe. I like their technique the most. I´ve met the MFP at two EJC:s and I remember most of them being quite short and thin (except for Priam who was taller than me)

Sorry for a very long message and crappy english/spelling. Please don´t flame me too much if these questions appears stupid.

Gear / Re: How many diabolos?
« on: March 07, 2005, 11:54:01 AM »
I have:

9 Circus
2 Renegade
3 Finesse (wide axle)
1 MB Eagle
2 small MB (don´t remember their names)

So that totals...17 Diabolos
