Saw this a while ago but forgot to write (from a phone is a pain). Anyway your integrals are always cool but I think this is the first time I see you do 2d and, although maybe not much of it in the video, it looked really good. I want to see more of that. Location with the trees at near 4 minutes was cool.

Btw completely subjective but your videos for me are required viewing not only for the tricks but also because you pick (imho) nice music. Elephant Survival from your 2012 video is in my playlist right now. ;)

I saw yesterday on facebook. Awesome. What kind of whipo is this? How he can throw diabolos so easy and clean?

Underhand whip. As for the throws it comes with practice (hard to describe movements in text). I've tried this with backhand whips and that seemed to work pretty OK too (never gave it proper practice).

So smooth. Some of us hadn't seen a diabolo at 11 not mentioning doing crazy 4DSS. :o

Hey while not being able to keep up with numbers and 4D advances like this I still find it very fun to watch. Thanks for the share.

Oh hey I spotted two of my favorite combos for 2D and 3D in this "just" with an extra diabolo added to each...yup :o :P

Appreciating the difficulty of the fountain I think the 4D fts combos and high-low pirouette just by how clean they looked were my favorites but agreed with above entire video is a highlight.

Hm doing it the opposite way, left to right, from what I would've expected to work better actually. Really like the contact stuff. Nice one.

Great stuff. Looking well relaxed too.

Gear / Random potential busking/stage gear idea spawning
« on: March 20, 2016, 04:37:16 PM »
Becoming increasingly interested in busking (though have yet to do it) I've come to wonder if people have any fun ideas for props that could potentially be used for performance (be it on a stage or street)? Maybe this thread could be of some use for a collective spawning of ideas.

And since custom bids for OP to start these magnets with loops have come to my attention lately:

Very strong type of magnet that I use to hang my keys on. Actually sStrong enough to bolt lighter diabolos on the nuts/axles for carrying/home decoration purposes probaly should they not be of performance use.

Now assume you tie a string to that loop they could probably be very quickly attached/detached to say street lamps for instance for super quick setup. I imagine it could be an ideal busking tool (though their exact uses would have to be explored) but, for instance as an idea, maybe tie the string around a spectator, vertax and then do the stuff that asian teams have been doing for a while but now as a single busker (if it works it would benefit someone like myself who is "forever alone"). Around 3:30 in:

Or maybe lasso the magnet upwards, attach to whatever if you can find some high up, hard to reach place (balcony railing or something) and do an extra high elevator (like Cirque but oustide of a stage environiment). The ending of this video illustrating it:

Or speed a diabolo up, let a spectator stop it from rolling away (one hand enough as opposed to entrusting them with a handstick), speed another one up, tighten string and race them towards eachother "street battle style".

For stage idk...have repelling magnets tied to different colored strings and throw them against eachother maybe? Just don't know.

Also don't know yet if these are actually strong enough to hold the up weight of a diabolo + force from vertical play/tug necessary for an elevator...but it's an idea so am getting some and finding out. Obviously with a partner busker available they might be a lot less interesting to people and, again obviously, just tying the string may be preferable. So yeah what do you forumers think? Do you have any other ideas for fun potential accessories/props?

Other idea would be some kind of reliable foot catapult solution for starting (again for audience participation) though idk how it would work to make that even decently reliable exactly...

And finally cannot resist just randomly adding below as I will likely not get a chance ever again (very slight language warning):

If you have some fun ideas for random objects to be used for busking/performance please share. :)

I keep being super impressed by 180 stuff. So much more difficult than it looks (a true jugglers trick if you will). Also the eiffel was sexy.

That sun into 2D sprinkler + grind... you should be able to combo it straight to the handstall Tino does here 2:37 (or stick switch and then force it into the string)? It would look even more flowy than just popping it up:

How sure are you/what hitrate do you have on this sun/sprinkler trick (do you have real control over it and the direction of the popped diabolo wether it goes straight up or keeps going right over the sprinkler)? With the amount of pure possibilities and what crazy combos it opens up for it's very interesting.

Always look forward to seeing your 3D stuff. :)

big fan of that second trick~

Agreed very nice port of the 2D combo.

Very good. Especially liked the second half.

Perhaps it's a sponsor or something. Correct me if I'm wrong.

That is something I could be interested in speaking more about. Do you refer the health dilemma or the corporate dilemma? If anybody wants to have a take on this, be my guest.

Oh no from a corporate perspective. Specifically redbull feeling the need to insantly zero in on, stamp and brand any type of "fringe activity" that comes to their ignorant attention (be it bboying, smaller extreme sports, parachuting or aerobatic flying you name it...maybe because it's cheaper for the number of views/attendees than sponsoring bigger sports and events especially now due to sites like youtube attracting random views) and more often than not turning it into a "battle" while tacking on words like cool/crazy/extreme/radical/epic and arranging it in a certain way in an attempt to be "hip" and maximize profit.

For those enjoying the thrill of competition I'm all for competitions, mostly arranged by people in the community (though with a variety of props judging will imho always be pretty arbitrary in diabolo compared to say gymnastics or figure skating but hey that's also a good thing imho) or if something bigger were to grow organically it'd be nice...but then suddenly a wild major advertiser, with zero prior juggling knowledge and who thinks bboy battles is the epitomy of cool, appears.

"Hey jugglers maybe you could all sport cool bboy clothing and cuckatoo style mohawks in the redbull colors to show us how edgy you are? It'll look good on TV when you throw around your little diablows or whatever they're called. The people who do extreme penspinning are bidding for some cash too so you've gotta give us a little something extra to look cool and make sure you're really prepared to "give us your all". We don't got all day as we've got a lucrative extreme seal surfing competition to arrange next. Bow down to the almighty dollar!".

It makes it feel a lot better that it was held in Taiwan where diabolo has grown in this organic way throughout a long period of time and is a bigger "thing" and more integral part of culture as it's not viewed as the "slit och släng" for the moment (however that translates? Flavor of the month? It's my main gripe) and I also see no problem with diabolo and competitions growing in the rest of the world over time, but by reflex I just SEE RED (like a bull...the irony) whenever I see that damn company logo.

From a health standpoint not sure never bothered to look at what's in it as I've never drank the stuff. I know I sound like a massive hipster doof throughout this entire rant of a post btw but yeah... :P :-D

Very cool two handed infinite stuff.

So conflicted. As awesome as these diabolists and tricks's sort of killed by how very uncool anything related to redbull is.

Man I'm sitting here thinking back to watching JiBe and Frebourg doing like 10-15 catches of 7D passing in Svendborg 2003 and how amazing 7D alone in the air was at the time no matter how quickly it all collapsed. Scary to think how far diabolo has come in 12 years. Great video you both look so steady and the slight recover at 50ish was very impressive.

So awesome. Entire video ofcourse but I will second 180 minicolumns being a favorite. I've done many tries on a 180-180 pirouette (normal not columns) but am mentally blocked from doing it and just can't wrap my head around it it's just not what you do in 2D. Crazy stuff.
