Tricks / Re: I just learnt to... (2007)

Finally did my first Infinite Suicide (with an Ice Cracker intro).

Now I've discovered what my problem was, I' ve always watched the videotutorials of Tim Ellis, which are very good, but he always used 'backwrap' when he means 'frontwrap' which is very confusing to me. Have a look:

Mastered Genocides and learned Mini-Genocides!

Im not sure if this has been suggested befor in this topic... and to be honest a cant be bothered wading through 50 pages of it just to find out, but could it be a good idea to have these on your profile page? so then you can find out more information about each others diabolo style without having to look at all this? It could be updated aswell so its kept current? But i dont know about these tings, perhaps it is not do-able?

Great Idea! You are definitly right!

Name: Jip Temmink (SilentScreamer)
Location: Ommen, Holland
Age: 16
Website: Nope

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
Well, I started 3 years ago and stopped for a long time, my best trick was a Righthand Grind and Open Orbits. I've started from half April so now I'm diaboloing for 3 months.

2. What or who got you started?
My brothers because they did it first and I liked it so I bought one too, and now I'm much better then they are.

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
That I get better and better. It's a great feeling if you learn a new trick. I do remember really good when I did my first Single Fritz release, It was @ 1:00 AM and I was diaboloing in the livingroom in my boxershort and I was soooooooooooo happy, I just won't believe that it was that simple, I jumped through the whole room.

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
2 a 3 hours a day.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Nope, I just suck with audience.

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
Nope, can't do any of that.

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
Finesse G2's! Henry's Alu's and Henry's Fluo!

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
Well, I'm working now on 2D but I think 1D is more fun because there are so many tricks to do with 1D and I only can focus on 1 diabolo...

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
Loop and half hook whip catch duicide!

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
3D Suns on an unicycle!

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
2D Shuffle, Tomicide, Mini-Genocides, Infinite Suicides, Chinese Whip Accleration for Excalibur  :P

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
My brothers, Martijn, Tim Ellis and the guy from this video:

Gear / Re: Needs a lot of help!
« on: July 26, 2007, 09:39:04 PM »
Well, I've got my new stuff for 5 days now, (2 Orange Babache Finesse G2's, Henry's Alu's and 25m Yellow Henry's Fluo) and I'm really happy with it. I've learned many new tricks with them and had a few problems. Like the string wasn't grippy, that my sticks cut my string in 2 pieces and ofcourse the  problems to choose which gear is best for me. Now is soaping a great answer to slippery string and I can solve the cut problem with sandpaper. So I'm very contented about my new gear, and I couldn't cancel my carbon stick anymore so I get some Henry's Carbon 410 too which are great for cradles and grinds, which i love to do :D. Then I've got 2 sets of diabolo's, sticks and lengthes of string, so I cannot complain about my gear anymore! Finesses are great for whip catches and the sticks for suicides.

So everybody, thanks for all the advice!

Tricks / Re: What's wrong on my 2D Shuffle?

@Marijn S4X

Yes, I'm righthanded. But it feels more logical if I use the hand by which the diabolo leaves the string instead of land on the string.

I think it's a bit of the usual motion you have on 1d. Then your right hand pulls and your left hand moves too, right?

If you're right handed, your right hand gives speed, your left hand pops the diabolo over the other one.

I think this makes my problem exactly clear. I only use my left hand to pop the diabolo over the other one and the right hand doesn't do anything except for catching the diabolo.

@Planet Matt

I have tried to do that, but the spinning doesn't make much sense for my speed because the Speed Pulls are enough. And if I spin the diabolo with my hand it tilts immediatly away and then is the start more difficult for me.

@Diabolo Bro

Yes, that's a problem for me too. If I don't raise my left hand the diabolo will smash eachother immediatly. But maybe if I get my hands on the same level the circle may be a bit bigger. I'll be practising on that.

Ofcourse I watched it and I've watched so many videos on 2D shuffle but it doesn't help for me. I've raised my hand because the diabolo's would smash eachother immediatly if I lower my left hand and then I've got nothing for my video and nobody can help me. Then everybody would say, it comes all with practise, but if I don't know what I do wrong it will never come with practise ;)
And you're definitly right about the thinking thing, because I'm allways too busy juggling. That's why I suck at Tomicide for example, I just don't know where to let the sticks go!

Thanks for all reply's. I'm going to practise on this!

Can anybody tell me what I do wrong in my 2D shuffle?

Gear / Re: Soaping your string to make it less slippery?
« on: July 24, 2007, 11:45:45 AM »
Well, I've did exactly what Norbi said. Wet my soap, soap my string, dry my string, wash off the soap, dry my string, do some loop accleration with 2 wraps and then put a second diabolo in. The first time it helped a bit, the second time it became less rough than it was  ???... Is there anything I'm doing wrong?

EDIT: After practising a bit sometimes it worked great, sometimes it doesn't. Maybe I'll soap again.

Thanks for helping me with this!

EDIT2: It is now as rough as the other string was! The soap worked really good!

This is about making your string more grippy :P

That's what I need, don't I?

Does this work with liquid soap too?

I've got Henry's Yellow Fluo too! And maybe I want to make it rough too fast. I haven't got so much patience :P Thanks for all reply's. I will not over do my replaces because I don't want to wait with the difficult tricks. I am practicing Chinese Whip Accleration for Excalibur now. I think it's good for making my string rough.

I've tried triple wrap and it doesn't work for me  :'(

Normally it would tangle up after a double wrap but....
