has anybody tried these out?http://www.higginsbrothers.com/buyjive.htm

they look to me like a cheap alternative to fiberglass or carbon sticks. They don't have any grips on them, but that's not really such a big deal to me personally.

I wouldn't say an alternative to Fiberglass or Carbons, but more of a pretty alternative to wood. Same kind of behavior can be expected from them, although some variations are shorter/longer lighter/heavier.

-but it there any critisism that anyone would like to give?

Yeah, you suck. Just kidding, it's a good video but some brighter environments and some indoors stuff would help visibility, and just look nicer. IMO.

TAIBOLOS FTW!
cept you need to get them in taiwan....

www.diabolomoves.co.uk

Nev's store has all (?) of the Taiwanese diabolos in it, I think. That is, Sundia diabolos and Taibolos + their sticks etc. Definitely worth a look if you're in the UK or after the newest Taiwanese diabolos.

I'm a huge fan of Sundia's diabolos, that is Suns and Flys. I'll never again touch my finesses so long as my Suns are in reach, and Flys are Vertax killers.

It's awesome, especially originality-wise. This gives me lots of ideas that Imma' try out at MJC, BOOYAH!

Oh, no more creepy feet, too.

Diabolo.ca Policy & Feedback / 'Recent Posts' Box
« on: August 24, 2008, 08:23:44 AM »
Hello.

Since the recent update of the site, I've mainly noticed that the box on the forum index that displays which topics have recently been posted in has grown much shorter.

I think it should be returned to it's previous size, if not larger than before.
This is because some posts are occasionally pushed out of sight underneath other new ones, making it harder to track your interests without the "Show new replies to your posts" button.
However, if you haven't posted in such a topic, you'd have trouble ever finding out about new posts.

Also, if someone has created an entirely new topic, which would also appear in the Recently Posted box, and suddenly a surge of posts arise in other topics, the new one may get very little traffic because you'd have to browse through the forums to find it.

Wow, it looks like even the nuts are colored. That might just be a reflection, though.
Is sundia still using the plain nuts that originally came with Suns, or have they started using Fly ones now?

My Crystal Sun keeps breaking in half because the nuts just fall off, I'm afraid to use it anywhere but in an empty hall.  :-[

Cat Empire, and I just checked it's in the video! Oh and the song is called 'Hello'.

I hate that band.  :P

I like the first slack, the one that whips around twice.

Thanks for the update. Those Finesse axle kits look NICE. I'd get them if I still cared at all about my Finesses, I'd much rather save up for the new Suns.

Nev, you should really take more photos of the new suns for your Shop, but against a different background.

It's really hard to see the colors of each diabolo with the green background, go for a white, or better yet, a black one with light shining past.

Wow, wow, wow, wow, wow   :o

Those are the SEXIEST-looking diabolos I've ever seen, easily. I really wish I'd seen this sooner and not gotten the Crystal Sun- it looks awesome, but these look awesome + 1'000.

And now we wait until Christmas, Red + Purple!

Hopefully there will be information sooner rather than later if they are bringing out another new product, so I know what I should aim for... Nev?

I've unwrapped one, but not the other as Sean said.

I either get this wrap, or get a left backwrap on one when I fail an exit.

I might take a picture of the wrap if I can get it.

Tricks / Failed Sprinkler Exit
« on: August 21, 2008, 01:39:52 PM »
Hello.

I've been practicing multiple sprinklers recently, and one very frustrating problem that keeps coming up is that when I try to exit the last sprinkler (Right Front-Unwrap from a Left Backwrap entry) I sometimes end up with a strange knot.

When this happens, one diabolo is suspended above the other, caught in a small tangle of string while the other sits beneath it on an open loop of string.

Could somebody please explain why this happens?

Tricks / Re: Azacide *VIDEO*
« on: August 21, 2008, 08:39:42 AM »
I have to say that I hate it when people do one trick after another trick and call it an new trick.

Chinese Cradles follow trapezes, they were once a new trick.
Mini-gens / Full gens come from overwraps, they were too a new trick at one point.
Tomicides came from left inverse trapezes etc. etc.

By now, almost all tricks being developed are extensions of other tricks, as almost all that can be done from plain, open string has been explored.

is it a 2d slack?

 :o HE GOT ME

Well, it's a 2D trick FROM a slack, but not just a  simple j/c-whip...

General / Re: diabolo speed wobbles - why does this happen ?
« on: August 19, 2008, 09:14:35 AM »
...If a diabolo is spinning very quickly, the cups will actually even out, not warp further. Even more-so if the diabolo has softer cups.

The faster the diabolo spins, the more centripetal force pushing outwards on the cups, making them eventually fall back into shape.

I'm New / Re: 2 Diabolos: first tricks and things to consider
« on: August 18, 2008, 01:39:17 PM »
I've only actually been PRACTICING 2D for a few days, that is, the time I spent trying to expand my skills. I'd been repeating the same stuff over for a while longer, but not trying to learn in that time.

Anyways, over the course of a couple 'days, I've nailed corrections, just today got good at sprinkler-suicides (All thanks to Sundia Carbons), learned suns in both directions, grinds, some slack-whips, sprinklers, wrap accelerations and developing Chinese accelerations.
Oh, and transfers.

It all isn't really that tough, it just takes determination and lack of frustration.

Gear / Re: Equipment Guide (v0.4)
« on: August 17, 2008, 11:03:23 AM »
The pictures on these might need an updating, they're mostly over-saturated and look terrible, they don't do justice to the actual products at all and actually distort some of the colors completely, which may throw off people who would do better with certain equipment. Eg. Henry's Aluminiums appear to have brown foam grips, rather than black ones.

Actually, a complete overhaul into v0.5 would be suitable, with all the new gear coming out now.
Adding Suns, Sundia Handsticks and Sundia String would be great, along with Taibolo's Handsticks.

Please post a video or some pictures with more in-depth instructions, it's hard to get the point by reading that.

If you want to post pictures, go to imageshack, upload the picture(s), then copy the embed code given to you into a forum post.
