Gear / Re: Phoenix Diabolo: New Diabolo from Duncan Yo-yos
« on: December 18, 2008, 05:23:56 PM »
It seems odd that they'd even put them on the market with a problem like that, it's a pretty important and defining feature of the diabolo. It's a shame they've come out like that.

(Also, how come the posted date on those photos in the gallery is 26th September 2007?)

That was a really fun video to watch. Nice little reference to diabology with the Eiffel tower and light kits at the end there too.

I used various bits of sting to make a washing line in my uni room last year.

General / Re: 2008 Collab vid?
« on: July 20, 2008, 07:36:07 PM »
I still like the idea of a tennis video. Not as in finishing each others clips. As in starting with a diabolo falling onto your string from out of frame,c combo, then throwing a diabolo out of frame at the end of the clip. People could organise to link their clips together
I think that would make a cool video, but not necessarily for an annual collab video considering the large amount of people wanting to participate, maybe someone could take the helm and organise another d.ca collab later in the year with that sort of theme in mind. Do you think it would be the same diabolo throughout?

But the thing is somehow now its like 2x its normal weight

So no need for solutions

That seems like a contradiction to me.

You can't dye that sort of hard plastic that (finesse) hubs are made of can you? Or at least not the black stuff.

I've been looking into dying one of my finesses black for some time now so I've spent some time looking for UK stockists of Rit dye
(the only dye that seems to work) since I'm poor and am trying to save money everywhere, including postage from the states.

Here are my results:
American Apparel's UK store - £3 + £4 postage in the UK, most basic colours

Loco Skates - £6.99 + free UK postage, most colours (no black though)

K8's Sk8s - £5 + free UK postage, no black, dreadful shop name

Shean zelize (**** i dont know how to spell it O_o)
Champs Elysees.
One of the internet's many, many, useful uses is for spell checking.

Paris is a lovely city, I hitch-hiked there a year or two ago (Chiok's done it too), I'd love to do some diabolo there.

Videos / save it to soak it up
« on: June 30, 2008, 01:20:11 AM »
My mate and I whipped together a little video yesterday in our windy little town. It's not a showcase of great tricks (not at all) but I think it's quite fun and somebody might enjoy it. I feel a bit embarrassed posting it here among the likes of LCAB but it's quite a different kind of video and I thought I'd give it a go.

Hope you like it -

Also, the locations were really lovely. The old couple in the background was a great idea. Are all these places around where you live, or nearby? It gives the video a really nice feel, lots of different locations but all with a similar feeling to them.
I think everyone making videos can really learn from this, it's pretty much perfect.

i think it's become a bit more confusing because I'm not sure they've changed the little booklet since the G1 finesse, or at least the G2, and G3s have three markers, but the booklet only details one marker. Oh those lazy swiss men.

Look, if it is bloodyklown's integral like everyone seems to be saying then here it is http://youtube.com/watch?v=mQHajq91Mk0
I don't have time to watch all the videos and so on but I believe it comes out of a mini genocide, why don't you search and look some things up, there's plenty of reading/watching material out there.

Gear / Re: The Trade/Sale Thread
« on: May 29, 2008, 04:28:12 PM »
I would have just gone with:
-Seller makes a post detailing items for sale/trade along with price if necessary.
-Potential buyer sees the post and enquires via PM.
-Once the item is sold/traded, the seller modifies their post about those items to say that they've gone.

Job's a good 'un.

While I like this thread, here's a suggestion: Once it turns into 2 people going back and forth about a transaction, why don't you take it to personal messages, or e-mail, or whatever you'd like? It's move private for you and it keeps this thread from becoming cluttered with more than just 'for sale' and 'wanted' posts.

However, if you have a question or answer that will benefit many people who might be interested, by all means, post it here.
I was thinking that too, also why not edit your original post about something being available if it gets taken so people don't pester you on PMs for years to come.
