Finnish Diabolo Convention / Re: FDC2010
« on: March 04, 2010, 09:33:49 PM »
Deffinitely different airport if you're doing it all the way. EJC2010 and the FDC10 together. There's also a rock festival in Joensuu just week before EJC so it might be even worth of some thoughts... At least I'm going to all these festivals. http://www.ilosaarirock.fi/2010/english/

Easiest is like Marko said. First fly to Joensuu, then country trip to Eräjärvi and plane either from Tampere or Helsinki. After FDC there's good change to get a lift from me to Stavanger, Norway if anyone is interested.

Ilosaarirock happens quite near,to the EJC2010 with a bit of overlapping so here's good change to see some sights, like lake and stage for fire gala, etc site http://www.ilosaarirock.fi/2010/english/info/festival_site_map.php

Tricks / Re: Yo-yo tricks with diabolo
« on: February 19, 2010, 05:23:21 PM »
Well if we go in direction of 4A then there's so much that diabolo can give to yoyo. (It's quite hard to find yoyos that work well for this but I got few from LZ)

This 1A way is again different and as I see it yoyo can give more to diabolo in a terms of adaption than vice versa.

Best thing in Marko's video is that it just shows two most basic yoyo mounts so it's just a beginning. I bet everybody remember mach 5 from nineties, so yoyo adaptions have been here for a long time.

Finnish Diabolo Championships 2010

The most of important event of the year will be held in Turku.

It all begins again on Saturday February 27th. Finnish Diabolo Championships – the most intense competition in the world. Although watching juggling is sometimes incredibly boring this event has become one of the highlights of the year.

Diabolo is one of the most exciting sports to watch. You never know what is going to happen next. A few crazy combos can warrant first place in a discipline.

Heading towards the 2010 Finnish Diabolo Championships

Preparations for the Championships have officially begun. The 2010 organizing committee held their first meeting on March 2nd, three months before the competition.
The Finnish Diabolo Association has decided to organize the event on the last weekend of February. The two-day event will be held at the Barker Theatre, Virusmäentie 65, Turku, 27th-28th February 2010.

• You will have the privilege to enjoy two days of top-notch Finnish diabolo. FDA guarantees the presence of medalists. Stars are needed, because the biggest challenge for the organizers is the ongoing recession. The budget for the event has grown significantly from last year. The growing budget will be taken care with tickets, co-operation agreements and sales.
• The times are tough for the organizers, but the event is important for the county. It is even more important that we will have an event that will lift the team spirit of the county. The Finnish Diabolo Championships will have significant financial benefits for the town of Turku.

Spectator attendance should be huge as the Finnish Diabolo Championships is the most significant diabolo sports event in the nation both in spectator attendance and in media coverage. This year is the first year that tickets will be sold to the event. Last year the event was free.

The support from Barker Theatre is of utmost importance to this years’ event. Barker Theatre is committed to helping the organizers and allowing the competition to go through according to the Finnish Diabolo Championships demands.

The competition organization relies on experienced people and is pretty much the same as in the previous Diabolo Championships in Spring 2009.

Tricks / Re: Is there a real 3d trick?
« on: November 06, 2009, 11:17:43 AM »
Every 3d trick is a real 3d trick. It can't be done with any other number of objects. It might be really similar to other tricks with less or more objects but it has significant difference to them by having exactly 3 objects.

And there's a way to do elevator with bearing diabolo. Some FDA board members will post video of it some day now. The real elevator trick with bearing diabolo is here. It's no excuse to get fixed.

As some of you might know. We don't really have night during summer. So that might explain some of it. On the other hand at wintertime we don't really have a day... Some quite descent nightclubs and bars thou. No sleep whatsoever.

Marko, You're wrong. You just can see the beauty of Finland when you are there all the time.

For those who are near RYANAIR, it's propably cheapest to fly to Tampere, check connections from Blue Fin... or to take train or bus from there. That's good and the FDC is quite close to Tampere anyway (if we don't change it, it's been at same locations for every year now.)
