General / Re: Why all the vertax hate?
« on: March 19, 2009, 08:55:59 AM »
I'm with Jesse and Marko with this. You can play vertax in any speed you like, like normal diabolo. it's really up to you. Some hate it, some hate 3 low. So what's up. It's just one way to play, don't hate the game, nor players. Here's enough space for all of us. If you don't like to practise vertax enough to have control for it, then don't, but don't hate the people who do, or say that it's not cool just because you can't, or just don't understand.

For eight points of vertax (Marko's video) How many of you have applied this thing to your normal play with one, two, or three diabolos. It works, it might not be easy but it's same thing.  At least I haven't seen this stuff almost at all on any videos yet.

Don't people think? Do you always need to see example first to decide what to do?

I'm really glad that there is so many diaboloplayers who really give away great stuff for all of us to try and are willing to help when we struggle.

This is great but it's not all to it. There's more to diabolo than this.

well back to vertax control, again like Marko said Jouni is his master and you can see some of Jouni's stuff on most of FDC 2008 videos.

[noembed][/noembed] (begins with Jouni)

not direct links. but you can find it (mod edit - I fixed that for you, if you put [ noembed ] tags around youtube links [without the spaces], they won't embed in your post).  Jouni is the true master of vertax.

No this is not FDC. This is Finnish Diabolo Championships 2009 and it's organized by 'Suomen Diaboloseura' Finnish Diabolo Association.

Finnish Diabolo Association organizes two main sport events for diaboloists every year. First one is this Finnish Diabolo Championships. Where you compete in different diabolo dissiplines and competitor who gets best overall score wins. Here are some dissiplines of the Championships: 1 diabolo routine 3minutes, 2 diabolo routine 2 minutes, 3 diabolo routine 2 minutes, 3 diabolo high endurance, most vertax genocides in one minute (double counts as two, triple as three and so on)

Whole Finnish Diabolo Championships is really serious event. There's no Monobolo racquetball even it looks like that in poster.

Other event Finnish Diabolo Association organizes yearly is Diabolothon Championships. This event happens during FDC.

and FDC 2009 will happen 29.7 -2.8.2009 at Eräjärvi, more info is coming to also.

Marko can't yet do 3 low or high. He's missing lot of points in SDS Diabolo Finnish open championship.

But for this all thinking in and out of the box. I think is a box. Really...

think of it now.

Some opinions here and all this discussion is making it even more box. Board who desides which stuff is new, which stuff is cool.

Don't cry. Do what you like. Do it for yourself. Not to others. And no. You don't need to watch all the diabolovideos on the internet. Enjoy what you do.

That'll be my advise.

So you all are starting to understand where you should be when next FDC is happening. ;)

Remember also SDS's (FDA, finnish diabolo association) Diabolo open competition at February 2009.

As next FDC is happening soon (which I believe it's coming to be super) here are videos of how the convention was last year.
I bet it's coming to be much better this year.

More space, more suprises, more organizers, more everything.

And of course new and improved Diabolothon.

Be there and square.

This Diabolothon is sport not a fundraising event.

First diabolothon competition was held during FDC-07
Next will happen during FDC -08 and it will be held by SDS, Suomen daiboloseura (Finnish Diabolo Association in english)
Diabothon competition has seven different events and competitor who gets most points of these events wins the competition. None of the events last for 24 hours.

SDS organizes two main events yearly. First is Diabolothon during summer season and other is DiaboloSM (Diabolo Finnish Open competition) at winter season.

Maybe some of you have seen some videos related to this already... SDS website opens soon... more information there.

Mod Edit - decided this needed a split from the other thread to keep the charity one on topic. Feel free to talk about your diabolothon here. My additions (aside from this one) are in italics in your post
