« on: April 12, 2008, 05:15:37 AM »
I know its a bit random, but has anyone else found that butterflies are attracted to diabolos, especially white ones? There a few times where i have been diaboloing and butterflys have come and followed my diabolo around.

General / Re: What songs do you think are good for diabolo videos?
« on: April 11, 2008, 07:23:15 AM »
Tarantula by Pendulum.
Depends on your style ofc.

Fasten your Seatbelts, Through the Loop and Hold your colour are some pretty good Pendulum songs but they are a bit fast. The Cat Empire is good. An example of one of their songs is on (Australian) Will's Australia day Video. Works really well. Also some Rage Against the Machine would be good.

"Ive seen ya mum 100 times and she still turns me on" (Then run)
"Hey homo......shut up!"
Or if he has a car, you could stealthily knife his tyres during the night. A pushbike would do to.
But like someone already said, just throw some rocks at them. Use those tanky diabolo arms to hand out some diabolo justice. One thing that would be really cool would be to get a pair of wooden diabolo sticks and wield them like nun-chucks.

I think he's sayin- wait....what is he saying? Are you saying that the places of said reaction are the places where your first would be the most common reaction? We can only speculate on the mysteries of Midoryu....

General / Re: Diabolo Ignorance

Some Diabolo ignorance i saw today - Walking past a camping store and i see a poster for a circus club/workshopy thingy, i became interested when i glanced at it and saw juggling, acrobatics etc. and diabolo. I suddenly lost my interest when i saw they had spelt diabolo, diablo. My thinking, if they cant spell it, they cant be any good.

Jimmycords, well some crowd pleasers  are harder some easier. Usually its about the trick. Like doing 2d triplesprinkler looks really hard, but in beginners eye doublesprinkler looks almost the same. So why would you do the harder trick if it gives yourself pointless pressure?

If you think the trick like elevator (the one where, diabolo raises up on the string). Why it's so good trick, altough it's one of the easiest ones? Most of the time people just don't realize that diabolo spins and that spin can move it up really easily. It looks like magic for so many people. Another one is the high throw. It just works. What trick is better than 1d high throw? "The 2 Diabolo high throw." What's better than 2d high? "3d high of course."  ;) But you don't have to do three to impress people, just throw one high and they'll have their jaws on the floor when you catch it. That's how much people know about the diabolo.

Im not saying easy tricks arent crowd pleasers, just that most of the technically hard tricks do look good in the eyes of the crowd.

Why the 'mixed with technically hard tricks' bit?  What's the point of doing something hard if it's not a crowd pleaser?  Surely that's just being self-indulgent and giving yourself pointless pressure?
From my experience (small as it is) technically hard tricks ARE generally crowd pleasers. If they are hard and complicated the audience would like them because they have no idea how you did it (if performing around non-diaboloists). I mean, if i wasnt a diaboloist i wouldnt want to be able to understand or follow a trick someone is doing because thats boring  ;) the audience needs to be amazed and curious.

Tricks / Re: Ouch! - Problems in Ice cracker
« on: March 20, 2008, 10:57:45 PM »
I mastering the ice cracker too (can do it about 60% of the time). I found the trick is to put your hand in the position to catch it (with you thumb pointing down to the ground so that when u catch it u dont have to change ur grip) as soon as you let go of the stick. So wen u let go, u put ur hand just above the diabolo where the stick comes through (u might need to observe where it comes through) and catch it when it comes through. Remember practice makes perfect. If its hurting ur hand try wearing a glove or something. Also if your having trouble picking you sticks up wen they are flying around put some light/dark coloured tape on it depending on the lighting so that the stick is easier to pick up.
Cheers, Jimmy.

Whoa dude, you must be really fit. Aaro was the toughest of us and he did only two.
But you, you must be a linebacker or something... ;)
Im assuming a linebacker is something to do with American Football... For us non-americans, rugby union/rugby league loving types we'll just say im a prop  ;)

Mmm yea, teens (not all but some) put people down because they are jealous of your talent. Also if there is a group they will do it to try and look cool in front of the group.

"I AM your brother/sister/brother/mother/cousin/dog"
"Thats cos your brother/sister/brother/mother/cousin/dog is homosexual" (doesnt really defend you, but can make them angry and take the topic away from diaboloing)
"Hey.....Ya Mum!"
But as other people have already said, the slap accross their face with your stick would be the most effective. Maybe you could do a suicide and rebound your stick off their face?
