Gear / titanium handsticks ?« on: February 02, 2006, 10:31:26 PM »
english is a constantly evolving laungauge
or as some english teachers i used to know said a constantly butchered laungauge. i've been in australia for the last year where i've found grammer going out the window words joining and slurring togeter and me having to ask people what they r saying and i'm from New Zealand thier next door neighbour americans are also famous for being diligently ardently phonetic in any and all pronounciations forgetting that its the exceptions rather than the rules that make english special its really funny hearing them pronounce foirign names sure this makes everyone harder to understand but thats part of meeting people from other places. if the world was easy it wouldn't be as fun hmmmmmmmm Rantaholic But mabye important and uh yeah titanium handsticks would be cool. unnessecery cool but then most cool things are I'd use them and treasure them if i was given some but wouldn't buy them myself Peace and love to the world 47

I've got a variation Anti suicide
go into a Right trapeze when doing 2 diabolos, suicide the whole pattern round to your left releasing the left stick then catch it again u should be able to keep the other diabolo in the trapeze and then link on to whatever 49

Videos of the Week / Video of the week: January 9-15, 2006, Furci« on: January 15, 2006, 10:54:29 AM »
I've been playing with this a little but with the whole pattern flying up quite a bit lower
just yank and take two steps to the right mind you i can't run three yet so even though I can some times get them in what looks to me to be good position and alignment i might be compleatly off 52
Gear / Fire Diabolo Vid« on: January 15, 2006, 10:34:36 AM »
Must Find Guillable person with vidio camera to film me
But nice work dude tips for not hurting yourself with your fire diabolo include: Spend Some time getting a feel for the weight and movement of different trick sequences BEFORE u light it on fire preferably during the day when u can see properly Keep it moving cos otherwise u are breathing fumes whipping or suns are usually the best basic ways wearing non flammeble clothing ( i know this sounds stupid but lots of people do fire juggling in things that will catch on fire or melt to their skin) i recomend jeans and a short sleeved non baggy tshirt bring a bucket filled with water and a towel to throw on flames i"ve never had to use these (thank god) but then again i have had to leap on people who have set thier hair on fire with thier poi and pat it out with my hands Don't think that just cos u can do a trick with ur normal diabolo consistently that u should even try it with ur Fire one(examples include oribits with extra wraps , guillatines , stalls that end up close to ur body) if your drunk or high and think it"d be a great idea to get some fire kudos from ur mates, think again Especially if ur REALLY high and commen sense ![]() Diabolo more than any other prop i can think of makes the transition to fire really badly but even with all of the above said its intensely fun And the best looking trick by far is the high throw ![]() 53
General / 3d instants« on: January 11, 2006, 06:45:07 AM »
thats the central fallacy of juggling
people ( lets call them Muggles/Punters ) always ask exactly that question or something like it one day some guy i'd never seen before walked up to me and said "show me your best trick" so then i did and he looked shocked for a while then walked off but now that i've thought about it i'm working on a new trick for when someone asks me that question the middle finger diabolo grind Does that make me a bad person? 54
Tricks / sprinklers/hyperloops/tourbillon« on: January 11, 2006, 01:01:45 AM »

I'm New / Re: Introduce yourself« on: January 10, 2006, 10:39:18 AM »
well as I've been posting on here for almost a year mabye i should finally do this
Name: Sacha Fawkes Location: New Zealand, Christchurch as of feb 2006 Age: 20 1. How many years have you diaboloed for? just coming up to the start of my 4th year of serious but when i was 7 I learnt the basics with a small solid wooden diabolo 2. What or who got you started? Ended up studying for a year at a circus school in Christchurch and remembered that i knew how to do a couple of tricks with those funny spinny things and then got shown a few more things and never stopped since 3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general? The feeling of my brain while I do it 4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average? currently about 1 hour a day but variable 5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo? yes i've done a few preformances and am keen to do more 6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ? Hat manipulation with my nils pol and contact with my 4 acrylics + toss juggling - clubs 7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string? Jumbo Harlequin ALL THE WAY with henry's string 8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best? gotten heavily back into one recently but spent most of last year concentrating on two 9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do? Hyperloop Grind to Reverse Hyperloop 10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done? 5 Consecutive Vertax Genocides by diabolumberto 11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)? Integral arm suicide to genocide 12. What other diaboloists have inspired you? well the first really high level stuff i found was jibes vidos but more recent;y after buying diabology the entire MFP but especialy antonin 56
General / I hate ceiling fans! what things have you broken doing Diab?« on: January 09, 2006, 06:07:25 AM »
hmmmm
Well i have the obligortory Black marks on the living room ceiling I also broke one of my sticks by cracking it on the ground during a double hyperloop quadruple suicide and then finished it off in a wooden gymnasium doing a double genocide again smaking it on the floor which turned it into a couple of vicious vampire killing stakes but the only time i've ever broken anything that wasn't mine I was diaboloing inside and went for the whip catch and my parents had these wicked little lights suspended from a wire going across the roof as I pulled my hand back just before i started the forward motion i felt the string do something that i didn't quite recognise but i went ahead with the trick anyway thereby stripping all the glass from the light and spreading in front of me across the room and i missed the whip catch ![]() 57

Thanks for all your feedback guys
Its nice to hear from other people teaching diabolo around the world I'm thinking I'd really like to give these guys the tools to make up thier own tricks and show them places where innovation is possible I think that the trapeze is proabably the first place to start then mabye suns then mabye arm orbits it just seems like thiers so much information that i want to give them but i don't wanna just stand there and show them tricks they can't do and then have them forget them 2 days later also i've been asked to give instruction on getting two going any advice about this? 58

I Finally got the actual INFINITE suicide a couple of days ago and then i figured out how to do the Genocide from it and landed it first time
Also Have learnt the not so ancient art of Ringbolo when u spin ur diabolo inside your Juggling ring as if it were a chatter-ring most of the chatter tricks are doable and it looks really weird 60

So i'm about to host my first diabolo workshop
and I've read a little bit about other successful workshops but have'nt found any other threads that quite deal with putting on a workshop I'm gonna be Teaching the local youth circus + punters from the public so that means a range of skill levels but noones gonna be there that has no ability at all So i guess what I'm Asking is What Would u ideally like to see in a workshop? What are Succesful things that you have seen in previous Workshops? but your suggestions don't just have to be for my workshop lets make this thread a valuable resource for every1 ![]() |
