Sick! :D

I was coming from the point of view that surely if it's a new trick it's an "official" one. I certainly hadn't seen the trick before.

Maybe "standard" and "variations" would be a better way of defining them... personally i don't care how you define them... they're all tricks!

Sorry for the late follow up!

Ok... me and a group of mates were in the highlands of Scotland and found a waterfall with some small clifs and that round it, we started jumping from the rocks into the pool at the bottom of the waterfall and when on of them jumped in a weird black and white mossy thing came to the surface.

Someone asked what it was, i said "A sea badger!"

2197687 When your mum (who has started diabolo after trying yours) has 10 mins before she leaves for work in the morning and phones you to ask how to do a string climb again!  :-D

I think it's how easily people can relate to what you're doing, the example i'm going to use is entirely unrelated to diabolo but hopefully you'll see where i'm coming from!

I've found when skateboarding that people who don't skate just aren't impressed with "tech" tricks, purely because the can't appreciate the technicality of street skating compare to half-pipe, people can see a guy going high up in the air and flipping/spinning and related to the height they get, how many rotations there are etc.

If you then show them something like a flip trick or flatland trick in street skating, they'll maybe dig it but not appreciate it fully because they don't get the "tech" aspect and... it's not 20 feet off the ground!

Hope that made sense!

I've been trying this one for a wee while.

I can get the string over my hand but the stick ends up hitting the diabolo and then tying me in knots!

Thanks Mykill, have removed the neck knots link as it seem to be a dud. Will start work on the integral section through the week!  :)

Tricks / Trick Archive Improvements
« on: November 14, 2009, 02:27:07 PM »
Hey folks,

I've done a quick bit of organising on the trick archive to try to make it easier to find the tricks you're looking for (hopefully acheived.)

I'd like to know what you think and any suggestions you have, i'm going to set to work on an Integrals section for the 1d and try and collate some links/tutorials for those...

Anything you folks would like to see?

mod edit - for the truly lazy:

I find i reach a plateau every so often, i'll get frustrated at not coming up with anything new and then all of a sudden i'll spot a point during a trick i could go into something else or i recognise something i've seen in a video and come up with my own version and it goes from there.

Also i like diabolo puzzles... get yourself into a silly postion with the diabolo(s) and work out the different ways to get out!  :-D

i like this idea. the tutorials on diabology arent really that great

I second that motion, i'm kinda at this stage just now, i've got a handle of most of the stuff on diabology but i'm integral daft just now and slowly getting into the more advanced 2d stuff!

Also for the name suggestion... String Physics???
