I liked it.  It was short and had some new stuff like the leg tricks that I've never seen before.  Btw, is that the new Duncan Phoenix?

Tricks / new trick Idea
« on: January 07, 2009, 03:35:01 AM »
I've been watching a lot of diabolo vids recently, and one of them sent me a link to regular yoyos.  From there, I saw alot of crazy off string and freehand tricks.  I finally came up with this idea for a new trick.

I call it vertax fan.  The name explains alot, but this is what it is.
1.  You get 1 diabolo into or almost into complete verticality.
2.  Get a friend to do the same.
3.  Backwrap your friend's diabolo and begin an s fan.
4.  Continually spin counter-clockwise(clockwise for lefties) while keeping the s-fan motion.
5.  Pass a diabolo back to your friend by stopping the s-fan motion.
6.  You're done.

I'm posting up this trick idea so that you guys can try out this idea and tell me if it works as I also try to do this.  Post your ideas on the trick and your progression.

Name: Dima
Location: TX, USA
Age: 16
Website: nope

1. How many years have you diaboloed for?
about a year and a half

2. What or who got you started?
Another member on here(mangocrumbs)

3. What do you like best about the diabolo or juggling in general?
it's cool to perform or just learn a really hard trick

4. How many hours a day do you diabolo on average?
a few hours a week.

5. Do you ever perform with the diabolo?
Yeah, another school performance coming up in March

6. Do you juggle other props? If so: balls, clubs, rings, cigar boxes, devil sticks... ?
I can do 3 ball and 4 ball, and working on 5 ball

7. What are your favourite diabolos, sticks, and string?
My favorite diabolo is a tie right now.  I love the sundia fly's for their great bearing capabilities, yet they limit my multiple diabolo.  For multi, I like Henry's Circus.
Favorite Sticks:  Sundia Carbons ftw
Favorite String: Henry's yellow!

8. Do you like working with 1, 2, or 3 diabolos the best?
1 vertax is my favorite

9. What is your favourite diabolo trick that you can do?
probably the stick transfer genocide because I like genocides and the stick transfer was the first totally original one I've made.  then again, I'm trying to master a new combo, but it's a secret.

10. What is the most amazing diabolo trick you've ever seen done?
Too many to know...

11. What tricks are driving you nuts right now (what are you working on)?
2d, integral, continuous mini genocide

12. What other diaboloists have inspired you?
Lots, but Pranay definitely.

Tricks / Re: The Golden Mean and Proportions in Diaboloing
« on: January 07, 2009, 03:09:18 AM »
The more common name for the "golden mean" is Phi (ϕ) I believe.

and also:
Actually, phi is a different number altogether.  phi is the principle ratio of side lengths in which (A+B)/A : A: B.  Mathematically, this number comes out to be (1 + squareroot(5))/2.

Ok, so I think I'm going to buy the ultra leicht kit after looking at them all, but now I'm stuck.  I can't read danish and I don't know how to buy them anywhere but, so can anyone help guide me through there or something?

Well, I just did a search, and most people are saying the all-around is great, but I'm hoping that someone could also tell me about the twist tuning kit.

btw, thanks a bunch for just putting up that poll for circus kits.

So I got henry's circus diabolos about two weeks ago.  They work fine, but I'm used to wide axle sundia flys.  Because of that, my diabolos keep on eating up the string while I do wrap accelerations.  Which tuning kit do you think would make this problem more manageable?

Tricks / My new trick idea
« on: November 09, 2008, 04:48:48 PM »
If you guys haven't already seen, I made a video of all the vertax genocide tricks that I could think of at the moment.  I decided, though, that there is one more that I want to learn.  It's a genocide-duicide-genocide combo.  basically, I do a regular vertax, but once the string catches onto the diabolo, I throw the stick from my hand and grab the other stick and do another vertax genocide.  I can't get it yet, so I decided to make this topic here one where I challenge others to complete it first or help give advice on how to do this impossible trick.
