seamless antisuicide straight into S-fan (ie without any throw to darkside - this is done by transfer before the antisuicide)

and a double release S-fan exit (if I have enough spin left)

Finally finally got my regular fan solid this week (after a long time trying), so I decided to move on to the S-Fan and it worked straight away  :D  Even better, I found I could correct them straight away too (Henrys wide axel using the string method to correct) and could do over 3 minutes after a couple of days.

Also got a new S-Fan entry (or new to me at least) with a transfered knot.

Needless to say - its been a good week!!

Gear / Re: Your diabolos colors. Why did you choose them?
« on: November 18, 2005, 12:37:24 PM »
If the whiteness is really important then go with the G2 as they really are dazzlingly white compared to a circus.  Also they are MUCH easier to keep white as they are so much easier to clean.

As an added bonus - despite what has been written on the opacity of the white G2 - the blue LED kits do shine through a white G2's cups enough to be perfectly usable at night. (a faint pale blue glow to the player and brilliantly bright for the viewers).  The other coloured LED kits dont shine through at all though.

Now does anyone have any ideas which hubs these are exactly, or whether it's just some random make?  And would I be correct in saying the Tune-Up kits would include a new axle, bolt, washers etc?

Dont know what make they are, but the tune up kit includes teflon hubs, a new (thinner M4 bolt) with a carbon tube sleeve (to make the up the bolt diameter to the original size on the hubs / axel part), large plastic washers, small aluminium washers & new cap nuts.  They do not include an axel (you use the original axel piece).

They also come in normal width or extended width.  If its the normal width kit then you can just use the teflon hubs and keep the original bolt etc (which will reduce the weight a bit and feel much smoother in play over the aluminium hubs) or you can use the whole kit which reduces the weight much more (about 44g saving over standard circus).

If its the extended version it makes the diab hubs part about 10mm wider and also lighter (about 35g saving).  The orignal bolt will not fit this kit (as its not long enough) but if you still want the weight of the circus (just need the smoothness of the new hubs) you can easily make a new bolt for the original kit from a length of M6 threaded bar cut down to the right size and use the old washers & nuts etc

Hope this helps

Any of the Manchester lot going?  If you are can I tag along as I don't fancy making the trip alone.  What about the Port Pirates? Well I'll be at Salford Juggling Club and maybe the Zion one tonight so I may see some of you tonight..

I'll be at Zion tonight, but unfortunately cant make Leeds tomorrow (damn families booking up my weekends 6months in advance  :x )  I know a good few of the Manchester crowd are going though.

It's that stationary diabolo that tells you how you're doing and what you need to adjust (and whether it's going to smack you in the face when the whipped diabolo wraps up!)

Yep had that happen a few times - I tend to whip further away from my body now due to 'the fear' ouch - that may be part of the problem.

Maybe I need a crash helmet

Any chance of a re-post of that vid sean?

I'm struggling like hell to get this solid - 4 up & down is the best I can muster and it usually goes wrong at about 2.  Mine is the short jerky varient at the moment (non dominant relaxed - not activly moving) though I much prefer the look of the longer one which is my goal here.  The open diab is ok but I can't seem to control the one I'm whipping very well.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Ok - found the camera so here are the promised pics.

Here is a pic of the red LED in red G2 & Blue LED in blue G2.  Although the blue does not shine through at the very edge (rim) of the cup, it certainly shines through the rest.

The blue light kits shine great through the red diab but the red light kit does NOT shine well through the blue diab (small dot of light but does not light the cup at all - bit like the red kit in the white diab below).

Here is a pic of the red light kit (top cup) & blue light kit (bottom cup) in a white G2

The red light kit hardly shows through at all but the blue kit does light the cup faintly (enough to be useable in darkness).  They look kinda ghostly in action (from the players viewpoint) but should be very bright for spectators  :D

Mmmmm.  Seem to have misplaced my camera so cannot post promised pictures.

Here is a still from my camcorder which shows the blue diab though - sorry for the low quality (dont know how to de-interlace it)

Its taken from this short vid I shot last night (1min 28secs - 2.6MB)

http://mynci200.mysite.wanadoo-members.co.uk/diabolo/LED_blue_red.wmv

The side on bit clearly shows that the blue LED kit does shine well through the cup of a blue G2.

As I posted somewhere before in this thread.  The blue lights definitly DO shine through in a blue G2 (and they look fantastic).  In fact I'd say my blue light / blue G2 diab lights up even beter than my red light / red diab combination.  (Neither light kit shines through a white G2 though - or rather they do but very very faintly).

I'll get a photo either tonight or tomorrow for you of all the combinations I have at my disposal.

Tricks / knot stealing

Just to clarify, when you say "scooped up clockwise around and behind", does behind mean pull the diabolo towards you or away from you?

Towards you i.e. the right unwraped diabolo (assuming right handed) should go towards you (or behind the other diabolo) - I think of it as an inside clockwise sun with the right one in between the wraped left diabolo and your body.  This will unwrap the left and put the wrap on the right (or if you sun it further and over your right stick as well will effectively unwrap again into the open shuffle).

I believe its officially an internal taking transfer.

ps if you dont unwap the right one as above you can carry on doing them - just let it pass under (still wrapped) the left will hop across then knot steal again, let pass under, knot steal, let pass under etc (until i find one eventually tilts).

edit - Elmeri - Here it is again temporarily (hope you dont mind)

« on: October 01, 2005, 08:56:18 PM »
Good shout, thats the easiest floor start I know with 2 diabs fire or not.  I use it often for normal 2d and it looks cool when you walk along with it to the left before lifting into the shuffle.
