Videos / Re: How.. How the heck?!

My theory:

There is a very thin length of string that goes across the whole room. This length of string can be made to go up and down by people outside of the camera frame.
For example, at 2 minutes and 50 seconds in the diabolo is Grinding on top of string that is going up and down very slowly.
Also, at 1 minute 30 the diabolo is on the 'invisible' string making it look like it is levitating.
Lastly, At 2 minutes and 5 seconds in he throws the diabolo up so it hits the bottom of the 'invisible' string which makes it look like it is bouncing back down for no reason.

This theory is not perfect though, I can't explain the vertax other than by saying it involves some knots with the really thin string. Either way the effect is outstanding

There is also an amazing GIF we filmed with him at the BJC, although I don't think it has been uploaded yet

Gear / Re: Laptop for HD video editing

Here's one thing you can do, I have a PC which I built myself and I have an ssd for the OS and a hdd for the videos, this is the ideal combo. I know most laptops do not have 2 separate slots which is why WD released this drive:

This means that if you buy a laptop with a HDD, you can store the drive or throw it away later, maybe even put it in an external enclosure and plug it in with usb only when you need to, and instead replace it with this and have the best of both world, a 120gb SSD and a 1TB HDD

Also, I do not know how into editing you are but a separate gpu might help, Nvidia and AMD make (among other things) notebook processors, Nvidia uses Cuda in their GeForce and Quadro  line of GPUs and AMD cards use OpenCL which can be used with some video editing programs.

Here's a pleasent video from me and Matt:

Matt & Ronnie - More than meets The Eye

It was filmed a couple months back so don't expect and revolutionary 4D tricks from me, those will come later ;)

As for this whole advertising business, there is no other reason for doing this apart from the fact that I like this diabolo. It is not my favourite diabolo but this is a great quality product that is capable of numbers diabolo and I tried to demonstrate that. The filming was a blast, as are the diabolos. I want these diabolos to succeed so I agreed to make this video, that's it from me.

Tutorials / Re: [VIDEO REQUEST] 4 diabolo hover
« on: February 10, 2014, 07:36:07 PM »
Here's something I filmed:

2 starts, 1 hover

The first start is impractical, although I suppose it could be used to learn the wrap for the second one just in 1 hand not 2. I learned the hover in 2 days of intense practise, one day for the hover and one day for going into the shuffle (this was after I could do the 4D shuffle) and I did it for the first day with the first wrap because I heard someone doing it at ejc 2011. However after that I remember Folkert telling me about a wrap he invented and it worked like a charm, the diabolo had more speed and was at a better angle. The first wrap is a bit awkward to hold and, since it has no speed at the start, seems pointless however if someone is up for a challenge then give it a go!

It's just something I thought people might find interesting, go Folkert! And go Tyson too, that wrap you use looks really smooth!  ;)

Thanks for the nice messages guys! Sorry for the lack of enthusiasm but I did it a couple of times before, this is just the first time I did it on camera which is why  said "finally..."

Just a really nice video, that last trick with the fire was just insane!

Also, Tell me. What diabolos are those? Finesses?

It is short for the Folkert start, it is still a hover start but Folkert came up with the idea to use that wrap, if it wasn't for him there would't be nearly as many people doing the hover (or at least it would take much more effort), since many people find it difficult to do 3 diabolos in 1 hand, let alone to wrap one in as well, there are many variations like the wrap Tyson uses but it all started with his idea.

How did you get the three started with the extra in your hand? i've tried but i'm completely lost

2 ways, one is to do 3 in 1 hand and grab one with your other hand (making sure it is placed between your thumb and your index finger) and the other is to make a trapeze with 3D (2 spinning and 1 in a trapeze) and grabbing another diabolo before the whole thing falls apart.

Videos / Re: Some runs with 6 diabolos + New record
« on: November 12, 2013, 05:06:44 PM »
Who came up with this rule?

I am not certain that this is a rule but I do (or at least did) think so. Maybe I just heard people saying it as a joke but it does make sense, it is 4 catches from the string but 9 including the throws from the hand. Maybe I am getting confused because I thought that throws from another person into 4D low do not count as your own catch. Still, being able to throw 5 diabolos one after another perfectly like that is not an easy task by all means!

Only counting 9 on that last clip btw. Still heca awesome though :)

If you want to be really picky, it is only 4 since throws caught from your arms do not count, it is 4 catches but it is 9/10 throws, depending if you consider the first throw from the string as a throw.

anyway, that is a bit of technical stuff but it is not to say that you 'Only did 4 catches'. It is amazing and I hope you can run it for longer with time! Next I want to see you do 5 high to low :P

Mixex, flatex, or grumex xD this is quite a challenge

Also, I am worried about your interest in this and the fact you won the ejc coin juggling competition...

Practice / Re: 4 Diabolo Hover Practice - help needed
« on: October 27, 2013, 09:51:21 PM »
The trick is to try and do the hover for longer, I saw Folkert trying to do it at EJC and he was really determined to land it (which is a good thing) but after like 6 hovers he tried to go into the shuffle, same thing here, you can't start to try and go into the shuffle without having a good start. Basically do not focus on going into the shuffle now, just try and do the hover for as long as possible, otherwise the hover has no advantages over other starts. Anyway, it only takes 1 day of solid practice to do the hover for a long time

Gear / Re: Any advice for string that goes through the handle?
« on: October 04, 2013, 10:50:36 PM »
I just wanted to say, the sticks from Sylvestre do not have barriers but the new ones in production now do, Alistair realised this at EJC when he couldn't tie 2 pieces of string together inside the stick (which is a neat trick for string economy)

You do not need to send it back for a refund, just use loctite. Also the thread is not long enough to screw both the caps on maximum, so make sure you screw both of them on at the same time to have them screwed on as hard as possible. Most diabolos need to have loctite on, although I heard Sundia suns have self tightening washers, or something like that (please correct me if I am wrong). Anyway, all of the Epic diabolos I have received needed me to loctite them together.

I am speechless, as if your 2D vertax was not revolutionary enough, that combonation of vertax and normal diabolo is just mind blowing, how does not even think of such things, I can't believe it, so far this is by far my favourite video of the year, nothing comes close for me, please keep it up!
