@Clément thank you for answering! I guess this took you a long time with all of these answers

As you said, you made the video as an impressive skill video more than a "we are all together" video, and as you are the editor, I do completely respect your point.
However, in my opinion collabs should not only be a matter of skill. I really enjoyed last year's collab because there were many nice landscapes, even though the level was for sure lower. I already said it but I really like watching your video several times a day, I like the music and the tricks, but I do believe that it lacks aesthetics because most of the tricks are filmed in basic environment.
Please, do not take this as a personal attack (I am not that mean!) but what I wanted to say is that you could have made things even better if you had filmed Etienne, Thomas, Nino in the streets of Paris! I know you offered to film people's clips around Paris if we asked you to, and I believe this is a very great proposition. It would certainly have been a shame if these guys had not been in, but again it could have been way more outstanding.

So please don't hate me for what I said, I was for sure frustrated like many others but I only wanted to make a constructive criticism.
Keep in mind that I find this video and your work amazing!

My opinion completely goes along Icebox's one.
By criticising the selection of the clips I did not mean to say that the video was bad. I really enjoy watch it as anybody else here.
But the collab spirit is however stained by this selection.
I also agree with Sebi, it could be very nice to make a second part video. Not for the hype, not for the craziness of the tricks obviously, because it would probably be much less "watchable" as some of you said, than the first one. But to preserve the collaborative spirit that is a really nice idea.
But nowadays we don't need to make a short video with only the "best of the best", in my opinion it could be interesting to mix awesome clips with medium quality clips, it wouldn't make it bull**** or anything. That way we could keep both impressive trucks along with the collaborative aspect.

Nice editing Clément!
I have to not agree on the "the selection was hard", I can understand that you can't include everybody in the collab, but then you could have put only one clip of each person, rather than 3 or 4 clips of the same people (even though the tricks were very good!) and when you say that you selected the clips with the best background, I also think you could have filmed better stuff around Paris than just in the 104 or in front of a portal... The collab spirit is not to include only "the best" people, but to show how everybody have their place in the forum and in the community.
Finally, as you have received so many clips, you could have done like in 2008 with a 2-part collab video. Twice as much hype for the video!
I guess many people share my opinion as there were several disappointments at the release of the collab.

Hey people!!
This is my new video, Stream and rocks!
I filmed it 3 weeks ago in Southern France. Unfortunately I didn't have many tricks to show so the vid is a bit short and some tricks are rather basic, but I really hope you guys enjoy it anyway !!

Criticism is very welcome  ;)

That's quite a good idea!
I don't know much about the way the EJC will take place, nor the open stage and the renegades, but I can possibly participate anyway  :-D

Pau, this is definitely something we should put into place! I would be good if we could make one every year/every two years to see how the Female diabolo world evolves through time.
I guess if we did one this year, we could get about 10-20 contributions  ;)

I had not seen these videos, thank you Arjan!
These two girls are definitely a huge inspiration for me, and for a lot of other women diaboloists! There are also several excellent diabolo players in Asia, like LinYu-Yin for instance (which is quite very very talented)

It would be great to see other girls get interested in this fabulous discipline  :)

In the last year I have thought about maybe making a girl collaboration but I never really proposed this project online. Maybe it's the right time to do so  :-D
What would you all think about that?  ::)

Hi Pau!
I myself am a girl diaboloist, and I have been wondering about that for a long time too. I have come up with sort of an explanation (two actually) :
- Many children experience circus activities when they're young, and some stereotype tend to orient boys around juggling and diabolo, whereas girls are shown more "physical" circus (trapeze, gymnastic-like disciplines)
- Around high school, when students choose their specialties, there is rather A LOT of boys in maths and scientific sections (at least in France) and since diabolo goes in the more "mathematical" category of art and activities, the same phenomenon seems to take place around it.
But there are women who play diabolo, and don't worry, we won't let that go away!!

General / A bit of support for Paris and for France
« on: November 17, 2015, 07:19:53 PM »
Hello all!
I guess you all know about Paris' attacks which happened last Friday. Since I live in the affected country, I was wondering how to show my support with a diabolo and ended up taking a photo of and Eiffel Tower. Here it is :

I thought it would be great to create a topic where everyone who wants can post a picture of themselves doing the trick, so if you're interested, don't hesitate!

- Chloé, from France
