Gear / Re: Dube string ?'s
« on: November 10, 2008, 11:07:10 AM »
I have a roll of Dubé´s white string and I really dont reccomend it! I found the weave not to be so tight at all, (When you push to small parts together it gets thick, instead of "bending" like henrys..), which apparently causes wrap-ups... While its still new it kinda works ok, but as soon as it loses that "new & slippery" feel, you have to be very carefull to avoid the wraps...

BTW, just bought a 100m of babache pink string trough amazon, it´s weave is also not that tight, but the string is nice...

If I remember correctly, the difference about european and american pins is not very big is it? (I live in brazil, but I have bought some stuff, and the maximum I had to do was to file a little bit of some pins)...
The main "problem" there would be is that (again, if I am not mistaken) the europeans use 50Hz Vca, and americans use 60Hz Vca, so in the charger would be  some seconds faster lol...

thanks chiok!

I know a little bit about eletronics, my father is an eletric engineer, so he thought me something, I hope I'll learn a lot more on college =] (I love this stuff)

the resistence seems pretty good, at least I have not been able to damage it in any way, and I have made some pretty high throws over concrete and let it fall...
the maximum I got about damaging it was making a led fly, but after that i figured that my girlfriend didn't put them correctly on the socket.

The balance is perfect, no wobbling at all, If you look at the design, I tried to make it as radial symetric as possible, all with 60 degrees, I'm a little perfectionist in these things, I'm thinking about making new ones, because these ones are ugly, kinda prototypes, and give them to my girlfrind... :P

I don't know whre you can get stuff in the UK, I'm brazillian, and had  everything here in my house. Now I'm looking fot blinking leds, to see if I get that stroboscopic effect  :D

This site didn't open, so I used, anyway, here are some pictures:

The light kit itself (ok, not very well made:oops:, but it works great!):

UV leds (although it looks like white/blueish in the pictures, its purple live, I'll try to get better pictures someday)

White leds (my preference =])

Blue and Green leds:

Hope you like it!

Hey guys, I (finally) finished making my lightkits for my finesses, they work with 3 bateries and 3 leds, the leds are attached in a kind of socket, so I can change the leds anytime I want in secs, and also use any combination of colours, which looks good =]
I took some pictures of it yesterday, do you know any good space for hosting the images? so I can post them here...

They are not easy to make, but if anyone knows a little bit about making circuit boards, soldering and stuff they can be made very cheaply...

What I need now are rechargeable batteries, but I can't find them anywhere!

P.S. White and UV leds look awesome on the white finesses  :D

Weird that they are not selling the rechargers! Because Mr Babache IS selling them, and the wall connect adapter...
I believe they will be available soon, just keep those rechargeable batteries and when they are available you use them again... Or else you can make a recharger, I don't know how the jack is, but it shouldn't be very difficult...

I know babache is already selling them, the charger and a wall conect adapter. they come in red, blue, green and yellow, they also have the "rainbow", which is red blue green.

Just wait a little bit, I believe it's just the time for the goods being sent to the stores.

Babache started selling them on July 12, It's just a matter of time for it to get to the stores.

Hey! Those finesess are be-u-tiful!!
I just found a way to clean my circus in a more confortable way:
I disassemble it, put the "screw" in a fixed drill, atach one of the shells with the hub and the top nut to lock it there, then I turn on the drill and: Tcharam! The cup is rotating  :D  then all I do is to pass a cloth with some cleaning liquid (kerosene most of the time) and I dont have to rub it a lot!
As a result my phospho circus glows in the dark again! not only the inner part

I've been trying to make some alu handsticks from like Henrys' ones from 8mm aluminium, but I can't think of what to use for the handle?  The compressed foam doesn't seem to be something that you find much of elsewhere really, and not in useful tubular form anyway.

I'm trying to stay away from tennis grip or hockey tape and the such as it wears and gets sticky not soon after.  I tried to read Trash's article on his old site about how he makes his sticks, but the translation isn't too good unfortunately (bad babelfish...)  Any clues please?

I used EVA, I don't know if it is called this way in english, like a foam, kids use a lot for stuff at school, it is sold at stationery store (Google translation =], like paper shops, where they sell pens and paper stuff), I put 2 layers and put eletrical tape around it to have a "rubber" grip

There's a store in NY called Dubé, I don't know the address but you can probably find in their site: They sell Babache diabolos there.
Oh, can I ask you a favor? If you go there, ask them if they have finesses G2, and if they have white please! =]
Ie sent them an email but got no response till now...

Check in the "About us" section in the site, they tell you how to get there[/url]

I've made a finger grind axle for my circus, like the finesse one, it works but it's not perfect, I believe that, now that I know my mistakes, if I made another one it would work fine.
I made it in a lathe, in aluminium, and with more or less the size of the finesse's. I had to do another "screw" too, but that was easy.

Now I'll probably buy 2 finesses G2, so I don't think i'll be making another one...

Tricks / Is there a record for High Toss? (29.55m)
« on: May 02, 2005, 11:59:59 PM »
Well, I just found the guy who can do the highest throw ever, and I doubt anyone can beat him!

Open the DSSS and type z0000000000000000000000000000000000 in the high pattern. I counted 35 seconds.
If we calculate the height, with gravity as 10m/s^2

So, if newton was correct (unfortunately he wasn't) the guy threw it up 18,375 Kilometers high.

Can anyone beat him???

I clean my circus with querosene (Is this right in english?), I've tried many things, like soap, acetone... but the only thing that cleaned it was querosene, and it required a lot of work to get it clean (Its a circus glow)... I Also clean my henry's yellow string with querosene when its getting dirty and it works! =D

Once I threw my diabolo high, and when i caught it the string breaked, the diabolo gave me 2 red marks on my chicks,  It looked like I was wearing makeover lol

Hey, I have made my at home, they use 4 Hi-blue leds, and a 3v battery (the same you use on computers)on each side, I spent less than US$10 on both (R$30 in brazil),  I'm going to make one with UV leds for my Circus Glow (Which arrives in january 17 +-),  If I get a digital camera I can make a tutorial and post here...

Its pretty simple to make, all you need is to know how to solder, and to sink a pcb on acid...

Thanks sean, always expanding my vocabulary =]

Don't worry, measure it when you can, no hurry, even when I get my new diabolo I'd like to know the sizes of the teflon hubs (Is it the same as the original ones? only the material is different???), because I read that teflon doesn't wear the string as quick as the aluminium ones, and it's kinda hard for me to buy strings (It's hard to find good strings in brazil, and impossible to find in my city)
I ordered 25m of henry's yellow string, but this must last for the rest of my life

Oooo God! I wish I could find everything here in brazil... It would be sooo easier =[

Tks in advance =]

Hey guys!

I have an jester games diabolo (bought a circus but it will arrive here in brazil only in january,),  and the hub had broken, then I made my own with teflon in a "torno" (I don't know how you say it in english  , that machine that holds the material spinning and you use tools to make what you want)

I was wondering if anybody could measure the henry's circus teflon spool, so I could make then here (It's very expendive to buy stuff in germany and have it sent to brazil!), i'd like to know the diameter of the base, the height and the diameter of the top...
Don't think I'm doing this to sell it in here, in fact, I don't know many people who use diabolo's in here...

Thanks guys!
