3 and 4 diabolo start idea

An idea i came up with this afternoon to help throw in for multiple diabolos. Its not yet perfect but here was the idea.

Damn, i made something almost like this using a tripod and some wood and hinges. The idea was to start 4 with it but the self start turned out to be easier Might film something involving it one day though

Yeah same here, self start is mush easier to learn. I think the problem with all these machines is that it is very hard to get good spin.

Still...for someone who practices alone this is a very cool way to be able to practice recieving unstable and imprecise throw ins.

Yes i agree. I've had just over 10 otts with a self start i came up with but the pattern starts off very low and is hard to control initially so this was just to see how i would go dropping into a controlled pattern without stalls. I will be mainly practicing with the self start i just wanted to share this with you guys

I just put a small piece of timber that was lying around across the clothes line and basically just taped the back of it. The line worked like a spring so i tied the end of a stick to it so it was raised a little and worked like a pedal. I put a ledge on the timber to hold the diabolo and when the pedal was released the diabolo would roll off on the second bounce.

May you share with us what that self start may be?

My dad designed a similar type of start. It was basically a post with a ramp that the diabolo rolls down to gain spin and it drops into the shuffle, but you need a second person to drop the diabolo down the ramp. I showed him your design and he came up with a similar idea, but it has a mini ramp at the top to give it a little spin. It has a pedal so one can start it by themselves. I tried it out and got about 6 otts with 3 diabolos on my first try, but I can't do 3 diabolos really

would make a good engineering project, you could make a machine that speeds up the diabolo between some rubber wheels then fires it up into the air

i actually had the same initial idea. This one seemed more practical and cost effective though. But yes as a project it could be quite good
