A'ight,

Lots of people on the videos you have on here do a speed-up technique where the diabolo goes in a circular loop.  I can do chinese whips well, but i like the look of this, and variation is always a good thing.

any pointers on how to do it?

(sorry if this is covered elsewhere - i did look, but there's hunners)
right now, i see clearer than most,
i sit here continuing with this cheese on toast

i feel the pain of the third world famine, as we
count our blessings and keep damning

Firstly, if you don't already do circles, learn them: A series of throws and catches, each throw caught near the right (strong hand) stick, then rolled down the string, and thrown from near the left stick. Keep the throws fairly low - somewhere around chest/head height.

Now do the same movements with the string wrapped around the axle (as per Chinese whips).

If you can already Chinese whip, you should get it quite quickly.

Lets say we pretend I understood that... :P He already stated that he can do chinese whips well.

As for the topic in hand I can't give any better tips that the Void. Just make sure the string is not tight around the axle when it travels from left to right, as this minimalizes the speed loss.
Good Luck!

And don't forget to keep a good angle on the string that corresponds to your chosen wrap (just like for chinese whips).

And remember that the speed up occurs only between 6 and 9 o'clock (imagine facing a clock (right handers) The rest of the time you are loosely guiding the diabolo back round to 6 o'clock.
Tossing the diabolo on a daily basis!
