A knot got stuck in my Carbon sticks!

Hi. I am so ****ing pissed right now, as already the second couple of my henrys 410 carbon sticks is ready for the bin after the same **** happened as to my first couple. the knot pulled into the stick, there is no way to get it out, pulling it completely through the entire stick doesnt work either, as the canal doesnt broaden within the stick. anyone with the same problems and a solution? or other sticks with a better system?

thx a lot

I used a pair of pliers. And did a twitchy pull

Or you can modify the sticks like I did:
Drill a hole in the bottom so the knot always get stuck in the end of the sticks instead. Then when the string snaps or you simply want to change string you just need to cut the string poke it in a centimeter or so and then just blow hard in the hole in the end of the sticks.
This way you'll save alot of string.

Good idea, Mattias. When a knot got stuck inside my carbon fibres, I jammed it into the end and drilled the knot away with a very small drill.

The carbon fibre and glass fibre, as nice as they are do have some problems don't they.  Having the string knot at the tip is very useful as you waste alot less string.  Although IIRC the carbon fibre sticks don't like having the knot at the tip because that's where they will snap the sticks.  Having the string all the way along and knotting at the handle doesn't focus the stress of diaboloing on the tip so they don't break?

Just wondering if that was true.  But yeah I suggest drilling a hole out of the bottom.

I once had that problem too, that the knot got stuck inside the stick. What I did was screwing the top off (use force if needed ) so the knot fell out. I think that was a bit of a violent way... but I didn't knew any other things to get that annoying knot out.

my father is a surgent, which is quite useful sometimes, he somehow managed to get it out there without drilling, killing, sawing, whatever :). now i found a way of preventing. i simply dont do a knot, but i wrap the string around a omg whats the english word for that, there are screws, and the counterpart of a screw is?, well anyway, i put this at the end, they are too big to go into the stick.
but thanks for your advice

Think you mean "nut", which is a good idea.  If it comes undone, it's alot easier to get out and tie back on.  Always handy to know a doctor, a police officer and a car mechanic.

Nice idea, but I think preventing the problem is all down to the knot really. If you put your finger in a loop of string and twist it twice round, you get a nice knot. I found this is just about the best way to tie it. What I do, is leave the knot a little loose, push it into the end of the sticks, and then tighten it. Abit like a ship in the bottle, its way to big to go down the stick, but its just about small enough to pull back out of the stick with some pliers and abit of force if you need to change ;)

i had some issues with the string getting stuck in my carbon fiber sticks, and after unsucessfully lighting the sticks on fire to try to burn the string (the grips are flammable), i found that a straightened out metal clotheshanger is the perfect size to fit down the handstick and shove it out

As mentionned earlier the bead technique is quite effective to avoid the damn annoying knot in the stick, at least for my carbon 410, although its best to avoid wooden beads as they tend to explode during missed genocide suicide... well everything ending by cide really. Besides since i put beads my string last longer.....two birds wit one stone.

what do u mean by "bead technique".  do u just tie the knot around a large bead instead at the end of the handsticks??? I couldn't find you describing it earlier, and i'm getting annoyed at  knots getting stuck in my handsticks.

it wasn't mentionned by me, but by someone else.

Pass your string through a bead, make a double 8 knot, and then insert you string in your stick so that the bead is in between the knot and the string. I use necklace beads that must be 3-5 mm diam. It doesn't add any significant weight to the sicks and is hardly noticable.

Wooden beads break when the stick hit the ground
Rigid plastic beads (well the knot can get inside the bead, but you can break it it only cost 4-5 pence per bead)
Translucid acrylique beads are great but a bit more pricy (20 p each).
Still it's nothing compared to a pair of sticks.

***Crack!!***

The noise i didn't want ot hear, my sticks just made that teribble noise, although not totaly broken, the stick is still together, but extremely flexable and i reckon it is just the casing holding the stick together. So its time to order some new sticks, any suggestions, these ones were Henrys Carbon Fibre

Glow in the dark is never really bright enough, but a translucent set of sticks with LEDs in would be pretty nice, maybe.

ok so i was diaboling and low and behold my string snapped not a problem i first thoguht, but after a quicklook it seemed to be a big problem in deed.  I am using the henry's carbon fiber stickand have the know stook inside and its too fat to be pussed out of either end so is there a way i can open the stick up or do i now have a dead handstick?  These are quite new sticks and it is the first time the string had broke if anybody was woundering.
