D.ca collaboration video 2014.
At first I need to say I appreciate the votes I got on poll to do this and I appreciate that people voted. I will do my best with the editing and I hope that it will be enough after all superb collaboration videos done already.
Concept
I thought I would like to try to build this collaboration video to be like a routine or an act, with sequences of different types of diabolo play. So for my editing it would help a lot to get clips in 3 different camera framing / angles that I could edit diabolo movements to fit in easily to next players clips. It would also be very important that you would start your clip and end your clip with with a open string throw about your head high. Of course you can jam even after this but too but at least I would have sure moment where to cut the clip in. Trapezes, internal and external wraps would also do and I will use these as much I can but to really keep this idea of building a collaboration routine I would need your help to get the clean opening movements at the beginning and at the end of your clip, and to have the same trick filmed from 3 different sizes or/and angles.
I hope you understand what I am trying to say and do.
Please read these guidelines to keep the video for 2014 as good as the previous ones:
- Please make your footage HD, at least 720p. If you don't own a HD camera, borrow it from a friend! Send your clips in the best quality you can.
- You can send as many clips you want.
- Please record your sequence from different angles.
- Keep your clips and appearances short; make the move/trick be special but not special in a way of making it long.
- Mind lighting, photography and locations
- Name your clips with your name, Include your name as you want to appear in the video, city and country) and number these clips after the name like (SamuliPasanen Tampere Sweden1)
- Please don't release your clip on the internet before the final video is online. This will be more fun this way.
- Have fun and be creative and do it good and send the clips in the original format
- Preferred places for me to get your videos are
dropbox
and google
drive
Send your clips to
raulisamuli(hät)gmail.com
The deadline is November 1st
and I’ll try to get the video done in the end of November. That we could all enjoy it during X-mas holiday.
If you have any question just leave a comment below!

For passing tricks, there might be lot of ways to deal with this, coming from close up from trapeze to really wide shot with the same trapeze showing the other person taking part as well, or the ten other players taking part. Then the tricks and we are back on solo stuff?
I am sure you people can think of even better ways and I am open for ideas how to deal with this. Main thing is to keep the footage good, with quality in all the levels of the clip and have enough different angles and in enough sizes (close up, Wide/Long Shot, Full Shot, Medium Shot, etc.)

Hey Samuli. This sounds really awesome!
So, start each trick with a throw (or trapeze, etc). What about tricks where that might be really hard? Or if trick is 3 diabolos, etc?

For me it is a bit hard to visualize the concept. Would it pe possible to make a clip where you show how we should film the start and the end?

I really like your idea
I'm just wondering, if the trick we want to do is with several diabolos, is it best to throw 1 or all the diabolos ?

Integrals and vertax are super easy to edit together because there aren't much state changes in either one style. I am bit more concerned of righty/lefty stuff but I trust my luck.
With two and more, the basic shuffle and hover are propably the most clear cut moments.

For now I have got one person sending two clips for collaboration video. This won't make the final work really long neither collaborational. Would be fun to get more.
On a side note please send videos after next week as it seems that my computers ssd drive is dying or something else is getting broken. I need to take it for repairing on Monday and I am not sure how big process this will be.
Cheers,

Hello again,
Yes the ssd-drive I had was broken but now this problem is solved and I can continue with editing things. at the moment the DcaCollab is coming to be quite short with one person and two clips. There's still time but it is running all the time.
Cheers,

I do want to collaborate, with a 3 diabolo high diabolo start, in which all diabolo's start from a "dead" (non-spinning) position, to a full 3 high pattern. How would you suggest me to fit this in with the concept? Making an open-string throw and the beginning and possibly the end would be pointless to the trick, and a hassle. Any suggestions? Mind I'm left handed... you could flip the video, or leave it as it is.

For number tricks I would hope people who have good finishes for high or low patterns would do those for the end of the clip, fancy starts and regens are always fun to see too. Leftie style is good, we'll see how I can make this happen in the end. I am really curious myself, how this will work out.
Maybe you have some sort of numbers manipulation stuff to share with your 3D high start?
Cheers.

You mean as sort of pre-routine, before the start itself? I'm afraid it would turn out rather routine-ish, and fairly tricky for myself.
