Broken Sundia Evo G1 GOLD, someone else?
« on: April 13, 2016, 07:01:52 PM »
Hi everyone!

I bought 5 Sundia EVO G1 Diabolo - Ltd Edition Gold 2 years ago.

This last week two of them broke while I was juggling 2 and 3 diabolos high, I only juggled with them for training, in indoor spaces with good floor.
I've juggled for many years, and those are the first diabolos that broke… I have some Finesses that cars pas on them , and they are stil working well.

Someone had the same bad luck?

Now I was looking some new diabolos to buy, and I don't know what to buy, I really like the Sundia diabolo shape, but I'm really disapointed with this expensive diabolos that I bought.

This is the descriptions of the cups af the sundia gold:

"They also feature a new cup material which is both super durable and easy to clean. The outer cup surface has been specially ''blasted'' to give it a matt finish which reduces friction from the sticks and string making corrections easier."

What diabolos do you recomend? I've tried Epic, and Taibolo, but Sundia fits better on me...

Thanks for your help,
Dídac

Sundia Evo all the way, they are by far the best fixed diabolos out there (in my opinion  ;) ). I never had my cups break although my axle did bend once (no biggie) and I know that just a couple days ago one of Tyson's Sundia EVO G1 diabolos broke as well.

I would highly recommend the EVO G2, they are exactly like the G1s but more durable, the stability rings do not deform, since they are made from resin instead of metal, which is a huuuuuuge plus for me since it means grass, mud, sand, small rocks and other small debris cannot get caught in them. Also the cups are made of a slightly softer plastic, nothing like the finesse diabolos although probably comparable to Taibolos and Epics (if not a tiny bit firmer than them).

Can confirm

I will definitely be getting Evos again though. I've heard great things about the G2s and Evos are my favourite diabolos by far (followed by Epics, then Taibolos).

Really sorry to see you guys had problems with broken Evo G1 cups.

Thousands of these were made and sold and apart from yours I only know of one other reported case of a broken cup - I checked with Sundia and they have had no reported breakages themselves as yet.  They are trying to identify any possible causes.

But even one breakage is one too many imho - it's unacceptable that your cups should fail in this way - on behalf of Sundia and myself, I can only apologise and will be sending you both free replacements.

The G2 cups have no known issues with breakages to date

Thanks Nev! for my free replacement Gold Sundia Cups!

I was asking to some friends that are chemists and works with plastics, and they told me that cups breaks because "material fatigue" (you can google it).

In the photo you can see how the diabolos lost the original color. I never forget them on the sun, I'm very carefull with that because i know that sun is not good for plastic stuff.

PS: today another gold cup break while I was doing 3 diabolos High.
