EJC Diabolo Battle 2017, feedback is welcome

Hi people,

We are starting to organize the EJC diabolo battle. We have some options.

Where:
- Indoor: in a 6/7/10 m high tent
- Outdoor: problem might be rain and wind

When:
- I would suggest Thursday because it allows people to get to the place on time.

Alternative:
I will try to get a great stage, but then we need to separate the event in two rounds. Because great stages are quite demanded. So better use it only for finals.

Any comments?

I think outdoor is quite a gamble. Last year the weather was great, but two years ago in Bruneck there was a ****ing tempest during the battle

Definitely inside. Rules like last year seems fine, but there should be 2 rounds per combat, and some more character. And qualifications need to be done before the start of the battle.
Otherwise last year was great. And the year before as well! Looking forward to it.

wis! listen up! we need a real "diabolo battle"!

I wish wishes and ears were enough, it is not so easy to convince people. But you are luck you have Wis, who listens up, and sometimes makes some magic.

Apparently this year we have been promised the Special Stage Tent for whole Friday!! The organizers form this year are very eager to have a great battle, so let us help them!!
So we will make classifications, then 1 hour break, for example and then a final with 8 (?) people that will last no more than 1 hour. We need to fill the place and burn it down with show and fireworks!!

I hope this makes you as happy as it makes me, we are gonna be the Awesomest part of the whole EJC, yayyy!

I think there should be a prize for the audience's favourite. If only to give people who have a super fantastic entry and who have the bad luck to encounter a defending champion in the first round the credit they deserve even if they don't have a big name or some other kind of status.
If the people in the audience could vote for their favourite entry after the first round you'd be giving the audience a voice and you'd achieve contestants put in some more effort into their first round tricks rather than relying on who they are/how pally they are with the judges

Why not give a small prize to "The guy who had to play and lose on the first round to the winner of the whole ****ing event" ? The prize could be two beers or something like that .

Read again. I said defending champion. If you win a tournament in 2015 it doesn't automatically mean you'll also win in 2016. You might encounter someone who has better tricks. You might encounter them in the first round. If you were present you must have heard the mutters of indignation upon the judges' decision.

All I'm saying is that you'll want to avoid any whiff of political goings on and/or palliness. Even pros could - should!- put a real effort into their first round tricks.
