Sundia evo, hard or soft cups?
« on: March 05, 2020, 11:53:48 AM »
Long time no see, D.ca!

After having mainly juggled for quite a lot of years now, and a surgery in my right wrist, I've still managed being booked to perform at a juggling convention. I was thinking it was time to buy new diabolos for the show, and of course I am looking at the evos.

The only thing I'm wondering is whether the hard or soft cups are the best? It seems that soft cops is a newer addition by Sundia but is it even better?

Cheers!

Oh and also, on another note. Are the G3's better than the G2's?

G2 soft cup > everything

i prefer the G2 over the G3, because i love soft cups and G3 are 99% hard cups.
soft cups don't break as fast and hurt way less. i've tried hard cups but switched back pretty fast.

Hey Tipper!

Contrarily to Jannis, I'm on the hard cups' side.
In terms of soft cups hurting less, hard cups aren't really that violent, I'd say they hurt a bit less than Taibolos, or as much as Epics do.
And although it's true that people have broken some cups, as long as you don't play outside under 10-12 degrees, I think you should be fine. I've been using hard cups since 2017 for high as much as for low and I've never had a problem.
Last point that'll definitely go against soft cups : when you drop a diabolo, the soft cups transmit the energy of the shock to the rings of the diabolo, which are not as capable of absorbing such a shock, and I've been seeing many posts about rings breaking recently.

As for G3 cups, the only difference to G2 hard cups is that the edges of the cups are about half a millimetre thicker (a difference that one can however notice) and they should thus be a few gramms heavier. You also have transparent color choices, other than that G2 hard and G3 hard are very similar.

I hope you can get a good overview with both our comments! And no matter what choice you make, choosing evos is already the best choice you could have made  ;)
Welcome back!
There's nothing but what's bearable as long as a man can play diabolo.
