Top 20 Diabolo Players of 2020
« on: January 22, 2021, 11:08:39 PM »
So in order to keep this forum alive, I'm also posting the result video here :)

https://youtu.be/vUVGzhQbiho

For those of you who might not have followed what happened over the last 3 weeks, Damian, Aldair and I organised a top 20 players as voted by the community over on the diabolo_world instagram account https://www.instagram.com/diabolo_world/ . We released smaller clips of the result on instagram the entire week long, but we were really looking forward to showing you the final, whole video. (on a more personal note, I'm happy with the way it turned out, and it proved very challenging to find good tricks with a good pixel quality for every single person in the video)

I got some of your feedback on whatsapp already (@Wis huge thanks for the effort of writing something so personalised) but feel free to discuss what you think about it here too if you feel like it :D

There's nothing but what's bearable as long as a man can play diabolo.

Very nice! Thanks for posting it here, frontpage!

Questions
- Tell me, what are you, personally, or you, the three that organized, would prefer? What are your preferred criteria to be voted?
For example, are videos released during the year the thing that needs to be valued most? Is that true with exceptions, like for players with an outstanding career?
- How were the honorable mentions chosen? I guess it is 21th, 22nd, or something similar.
- Maybe it would be nice to see a list with the percentage of votes that each person got from the total of voters. To see how close it was.

I am personally ok with the criteria being wild and open, peronally I think I voted for players that can inspire others to:
1- Be more creative and aesthetic
2- Work harder to push the barriers
3- Encourage non-players to start playing diabolo (I don't know how to measure that, but somehow Chihhan Chao has it :))

----- This is the feedback I wrote from Whattsapp@Diabolo Europe -----
I love this thing. It truly made me smile the whole way. I have remembered how much I love my weirdos. ❤️
I have no idea who is that person in the 4th place, but if I had a kingdom, I would surely want him to be the prince and win the battles andtcetera.
Many tricks made me scream, that feed 1234, mniam. Seeing Ronnie 1st after so many years of struggle pushing the boundaries, and after that text where he spoke of the frustration in the 5D low race.... its satisfying af :) hats off! :) What about going on stage for the next battle? You don't want to beat Pen only in offline videos! :P
The little neck thing by clement made hm, 5 times in a row ❤️
When I saw Robin I wanted to hug my computer, so happy he is there. If I had a kingdom and I had to write the history of it ... blabla, Robin is King.
Super happy to see Chole so high!
Liam's trick is like if the props were made out of velvet.
I wonder why there are so few Asians....
Pen, Noe, ... Conche is too low.
Baston went out in 2020? Well, Etienne will get 1st, maybe with training :P

Nice thing to watch many things to think of... diabolo at its best!

This is really delightful! I absolutely love the really smooth 2d integrals from #6. Also a big fan of the couple of long integral chains in the vid. It's quite entertaining to see the 1 vertax, 1 normal thing (no idea if it has a name by now) is still around. Not my cup of tea, but I always loved the creativity of it!
It's interesting to see recent diabolo stuff; I can't really put my finger on it, but the overall style has evolved since I was really kept up with the community and it's rather nice. Thanks for posting!
