Hi everyone,

What contact diabolo moves or crazy kick-ups do you know? there's one of antonin i saw in ypres, he kicked the diabolo up (that sanwiched-between-the-feet-football-style kick-up) into the string which he let swing (like a suicide hand start)...

another one is the same kick-up into 2d of one of one of the guys in this video did...

the next one is in the trick of the week on jongle.net. "le blocage", where you catch it in the neck...
in the same thread, busk mentions another one, where you let it roll down the back and kick it up... I think it was a joke...but would be nice to see anyway...

and then therem are of course the two kick-ups in of baguettes & diabolos...

and some other stuff, eric or antonin did in yores, but i can't remember  i think, there was one where eric sanwiched his diab in his hollow of the knee...

I had some contact/diabolo manipulation in my routine at the Ypress Stage. Can`t describe it, but it`s a nice little routine.

I do a lil "contact" routine using the diabolo, sticks and string without the diabolo spinning.  It's not particularly exciting, but quite proud I thought it up myself.

I think contact diabolo is awsome, because it requires 'out-of-the-box-thinking'. It doesn't matter how short it is, if the diabolo stops spinning in a routine on purpose and there are done a few akward things with it and then it's trown back again smoothly it really gives a routine something extra I think.
some people think they are better because they can do something better

Fraid not, it's not really worth videoing if I could.  I do it with a Finesse and my aluminium sticks because a Finesse has a better lip on the cups than the Circus.

It's just bouncing and balancing the diabolo on the various flat parts of the diabolo on the ends of the sticks, shaft of the sticks and the string held taut (as in tight).  Very simple stuff if you think about it.  Though I daren't give too much away, might come in handy...

Hello peeps,

With the recent invrease of contact popping up in new vids ithought a thread should be started about it.

I did try and use the search but as usual it left me confused so sorry to the mods if there already is a topic regarding this.

I have recentley been trying a few contact moves, but i am having problems with stability after i have caught it.

I am trying a inverse trapese / mini g to a catch on my arm (behind my elbow) but am not having much luck. My diabolo is not spinning much to make the catch easier, but it keeps slipping off my arm.

I use circus's's's with teflon hubs atm but was thinking, does anybody think this would be easier with a finesse due to the material being 'skickier'? I dint own a finnese so any comments would be appreciated rather than me buying another 2 diabolos

Thanks in advance.

I've tested this out for you using the following:-
a standard Circus, wide teflon Circus, regular Finesse, wide finesse, diabig & superspin.

Result - doesnt seem to make much difference - its still bloody hard.

if anything I find the slippery diabig/ superspin slightly more reliable in the catch - that not my problem though - its getting it to roll nicely back into spinning afterwards I'm finding tough.

Much respect to Buisson, Cedric, Eric etc and all those that make this style look effortless.

As a well practised contact juggler I was not expecting to fail in such a spectacular way at contact moves with a diabolo. I can only 'catch' the diabolo (any size) in the crook of my elbow  :?

I can do it by flicking it back with the neck and whip it/catch it to 2d or...rolling it down the back and whip it between the legs. I can also do the stepover kickup footballplayers do (don´t know what that´s called). I think Trash had a couple of nice moves in Diabology.

Vux taught me a nice little contact trick at BOB convention. I'll try to explain...

magic knot a slow moving diabolo on your right stick
place it on the left side of your neck - its still facing the normal way
release diabolo and pull out arms - the string should be on top of the diabolo
hold your left stick near the string and roll the diabolo down your arm
the diabolo should go back onto the string rolling the correct way (for righties) but in backside

from this a mini-genocide is possible etc - muck around and enjoy.

This is just one of the many many contact tricks Vux can do, most of them are really really silly looking too. Must say cheers for teaching it to me among other things, you're a legend!

I had invented that one, too (slightly different entry, though) and then he performed it on an openstage at the Karlsruher Convention! *grrr* Looks pretty cool, that trick!
