Sorry bout the swearing in the music. Just my personal taste in music. Plus I needed a song around a minute and a half long.
Will know for future, but I'm not doctoring this vid, as the music suits   8)

I can remember I was at a stage like that about 8 months ago. Try to work on some body orbits, around the arms, around both arms,Figure 8 through the legs etc. It's a pain when you have to go back and learn some of the basics when you get onto 2d (which you could probably learn soon.) Also try to work your tricks into combos like that one you did with a leg orbit in it, rather than doing one trick and then accelerating the diabolo.

Keep it up,

Leo

please don't talk crap about yourself in the video. Everybody here has been on your level of diaboloing, so we all know how cool it felt when we could do the magic knot :D. It just a matter of time before you pull of sprinklers and fans. Keep up practicing.
And about the music: I agree, a little less swearing would be nice..

I'm relatively new to the forum. Everyone seems really friendly, but I thought I should cover myself for a potential flame for putting up a video of my basic skills.
Never even considered that the music would be an issue lol. I'm definitely going to bare it in mind for future video posts as I'm getting more comments on that than the actual video hehe.

Constructive criticism on any tricks or possible combos would be greatly appreciated. I'm looking to beef up my repetoire.
I'm working on the orbits guppygould, but I'm still having trouble getting the arm orbits down. Keep thinking my string is too long. I'm 6'2" and the string is floor to chin. I might need to think about shortening it to crack the arm orbits.

Body orbits I'm still finding difficult to get into as I don't seem to be able to start them lol. I can get into position, and then throw the diabolo at my face but that's about it (should have put that in the deleted scenes on the vid hehe).

Thanks for looking at the vid anyway guys :D

@Jay: your stringlength is okay I think, I've played diabolo with a much longer string for a long time. But if you think shorter string works better for you, shorten it!
And just keep on practicing, look at www.circusplanet.net (down for the moment), but that site has the greatest video's ever for learning tricks.

And buy Diabology if you haven't done that yet...

Ordered Diabology at the weekend. Just waiting for it to turn up now.
Will look at circusplanet.net when it's back up. Thanks for the guidance.  :)

If you're using a much longer string, how do you avoid the diabolo clipping the floor?

I thought your string looked long in the video. Just play around with the length and find out what suits you. Most people usualy have it between their waist and shoulders.

What do you mean by between waste and shoulders? Put a stick on each shoulder and the string should hang to your waist?

I think he means you have to measure the string from the ground to your waist, or to your shoulder. To your waist seems awfully short to me, but maybe it works for some people..

Ahhhhh... making a bit more sense now. I'm going to have to try shortening my string as I really want to learn arm orbits. Any tips for best string length for this, or for getting from single arm orbits to orbiting both arms?

Plenty, if you wouldnt mind possibly starting a new thread about it so that other that might want to know (or help) would be able to benefit from your question. for now practice the orbit motion open stirnged, move your elbow into position to keep the string  in line, hold the stick so that you have enough room to catch the diabolo. try the both elbo position with the string you have now, if it feels too loose or awkward you might need to shorten it a bit but having too short a string will be worse.

well done, that vid was pretty cool.

I thought the song was pretty good. I dont think that the language was that bad. Ive heard alot worse at school and college!!

Your leg combo is pretty sweet, have you tried doing the ping pong over the leg? It is a pretty cool trick and can be used with that back wrap to knot as another way to enter it and prolong the trick.

Also loved seeing the coffee grinder! Brilliant trick!
