I'm just wondering how many people start 2d like this?  Though it's a little tricky, it's my favorite way to start 2 because it's so quick.  Just one flick, and you're in.

I'm not sure what exactly it's called, so here's a description.  You put the two diabolos side by side right next to each other, touching.  Then put the string under both of them.  Lift the left diabolo up a little, then pull the right so it goes over the left, and then reverse directions.  I got the idea from someone's website (Vux, maybe?) a while ago, when he did it in a video.  But since then, I've hardly seen it anywhere.

yeah, diabology has a bunch of starts like this, there are several ways to start with both diabolos on the ground (and surely more that haven't been invented)

I like the cold starts too, because they're so quick. However, you do need to set both diabolos up on the ground and you have to accelerate both diabolos a lot after starting. So I'm not so sure if it's that much faster... Good for performances though :)

I usually start one, do a few tricks and throw the 2nd in and start a shuffle. With the speed that the diabolo has from the throw-in I can even do a few suns and suicides before I have to accelerate for the first time...
some people think they are better because they can do something better

The classic 2D start is lining them up as Alex said then flicking the right diab onto the left string then 'pushing' (veryquickly) this same diab from  the left string back to the right. This will commence a slow shuffle which is difficult to control untl the speed builds up.

I'm not too sure if this is the method Alex is referring to, but if it isn't, you should try it, it's not easy to master.

Another I like is where 1 diab is wrapped normally on the floor with the second to the right hand side with both touching. you simply pull your strong hand up and you're instantly in a speed wrap, then speed the second up. If you get me.

Some people have mentioned throw starts, another one is Yabes rolling trapeze suicide throw start. I may be wrong but I can think I can Remember Llama_Bill saying that he did this with 3 at BJC.
