ive seen williams stuff before and its just amazing as we all can tell.. but that ryo's show was just the same as another video in this topic and that is not very good performance from him..

still, its nice it worked to that audience that well.

I wonder if any of you took your eyes off the big hunk of diaboloing brilliance that is Ryo Yabe (I know it might be hard for some of you to do that), but everyone in the audience is like FIVE YEARS OLD. He's obviously performing at an elementary school (or perhaps a dwarf convention). He brought out the most simple tricks that he could get easily. So what he dropped a couple of times...they were on really easy (for him) tricks--he probably just slipped up or lost his concentration. I don't think he really put a ton of priority on an elementary school performance. My point here is that YES he didn't whip out the most amazing or the most sexy tricks in his repertoire, but then again he wasn't at Japan Nationals or IJA or WJF or any convention--he didn't need to.

And who cares who the best diaboloist is?? The people who are interested in such things compete with each other. Comparing random people across the world is not only unfair (to those who don't care about competition) but it's just senseless. You can't gather everyone together to judge their abilities, so it's all about videos that are released. Yabe hasn't been in a video for a while so...oh man he must not be doing anything amazing! Let's just say that other people are better than him now! And one other, extremely crucial fact.....it's all up to opinion. It all boils down to what style of diabolo you like best. The same goes for saying who your favorite skater or baseball player or singer is. William and Tempei's styles don't excite me at all, to be honest I'm not that much of a fan. But the stuff I've seen out of French guys lately (R-one's new video springs to mind) blows me away.

In summary, let's all juggle together and have fun, rather than worrying who's better than anyone else. You won't get better by arguing about pointless ideas, but you will get better if you shut up and juggle

Ryo is an awsome Diaboloist, he used a basic(for him) routine for small children, even a high throw or elevator looks good to children, at a juggling competition or something similar he would put in hours of rehersals before hand, this one he probably only put in a couple of rehearsals to make sure he knew what he was doing.

Yeah what Matt said. Ryo is totally awesome... in his own way. You may not like super solid clean diabolo juggling, but I do. Comparing him to french diabolists is very, very dumb

It's so stupid to expect new stuff in every video you see. I mean, it's cool to see new things, but that's not all what juggling is about. Seeing Ryo's solid awesomeness is ALWAYS enjoyable to see. Man, he's got style. Only 2 drops! That is incredibly good if you're pulling off these tricks. Ryo's very good, but also human. We all have our bad days, or performance anxiety/nerves making you drop more than usual. Someone who doesn't drop is either doing too easy stuff, or is a really good performer.

And jfyi there were a few nice variations and tricks which I haven't seen him do before (on stage). Have you ever seen him do an integral suicide to inf suic, or that 1count 2d suicides, or that cheesy 1d superknot, and most of the excalibur stuff? Besides, why would he do new hard stuff, in front of a non-juggling audience? They probably liked his elevator pedal the most.

And did the thought ever crossed your mind that he DID do 3 diabolos, but that the video just cut off early?

i was just disappointed - i read the post and thought "Yeeehaaa! A new vid of RYO!" But then - just his old stuff. i just said what i really thought. i actually WAS bored watching it. despite ryo being one of my favourite diabolists.

and comparing him to others wasn't the subject of the thread. why coming up with this?

I think you will enjoy it if you are new to diabolo, because you already know those tricks and think it's very basic.  What diabolo is ryo using, are they diabigs or circuses?
