Personally,I think it would be pointless. Most videos don't have the same amount of diabolos in them anyway. The only benefit would be that searching for tricks would be easier, but even then there is already the search function.

I'm not sure about splitting up the videos that specifically, however we have considered splitting up tricks and videos.

There are some threads that overlap, but the vast majority don't. We could then split up the tricks threads into child boards such as: excalibur/vertax, 1 diabolo (non-vertax) (or keep these together as 1d), multiple diabolos (or even 2d, and 3d +).

It might make it easier to find old threads for people.

We could also just try spliting up tricks and videos. That in itself might weed the threads down to a more manageable size.

I think that sounds like a great Idea

I think it would be logical to split up TRICKS and VIDEOS but it doesn't seem like a good idea to split up 1D, 2D, 3D, vertax, contact, no diabolos (only sticks), diabolos only (no sticks), and all the other variations and permutations of diabolo. That's what topic titles are for ;)

Yeah, I don't really think more splitting up is necessary.

To me it sounds like a good idea that would make searching for tricks easier, possibly a "New Idea's" Sticky or Child Board in all of the forums for people to discuss, post videos, and think of new and wonderful tricks.

Well, some theories of how it could help:
-as Sean_ has pointed out to me, when he was first learning he really had no interest in 2d or 3d discussion, he would have appreciated an easy way to look through all 1d threads
-I assume most people don't try and click through all the boards and child boards every day and instead use something like the "show unread posts" function. In that case, splitting it up further doesn't make any difference to every day use, but makes it much easier for someone new to the forum (or someone looking for something old) to find tricks that they're looking for help on.

However:
-If many people do try and read through all the boards manually, then yes, this would be a very bad idea.
-The numbers of threads might be more manageable anyways if we just split up videos and tricks.

I think that if there are so many page of threads in any one category that it becomes tedious to flip through them all (perhaps more than 10 pages), then splitting it up makes sense. Looking at the number of pages in the tricks and videos section (19), I think it would make sense to split up tricks and videos into 2 categories, but nothing more than that yet.

for beginners it would be helpfull, i remember when i started tricknames meant nothing to me!
thanks to barnesy's site now they do!
i think the forum is great how it is, splitting up is not neccesary but could be helpfull for people who start with diabolo!
i'd vote for this categories:
1d, 2d, 3d, vertax, siteswaps
and if needed something like: others/curiousitys/mixed(contact, sticktricks, combinations with other props,...)

I went through and split up tricks and videos. Not all posts were easy to distinguish, but hopefully it makes things a bit easier to find.

Just like when we split up the whole board together, it went surprisingly fast. Probably just 20-30 minutes of clicking.

It may not be perfect, so if anyone (particularly any mods) want to have a look it might be useful.
