Sad handstick stories: the worst time to break your handsticks

  I bought some energy handsticks and while practicing for a talent show they up and snapped the worst day to becuase it was the night before and I had no $ so I then had to drop out of the talent show.
any1 else have some sad handstick stories

I've had my Kevlar string set fire and break mid lenght , mid performance, If that counts.

I had to do a quick repair job resulting in a ridiculously short string to finish my performance. spose its my fault for pimping my fire diabolo. I had to do 2 more shows that night with the string the same lengh [its always the bit of equipment you dont bring a spare of that will break ] although I have found that a shorter string does help with  fire diabolo as a result. anyway ill halt my ramblings

I think I managed to make it look like part of the show with my exaggerated reaction so it became a kind of slapstick diabolo show.

I was gonna perform at a convention and my string broke and I realized that my handsticks were so bent and chipped that I just bought a new set. They didn't really break though, they just got really messed up. Ah Henry's aluminum...soft as butter but tough as leather.

Man, it would really suck to break string/handsticks on stage. Thats why I'm going to have to have a spare pair on the side.. The problem is my Fibreglass sticks break string SO QUICKLY!! Any ideas to help this?

I haven't broken any sticks by now, but i think my carbons will break soon because the handles are starting to get a little bit loose.

I heard a story, dunno if it's true or not:Someone (might have been Luke Burrage) snapped their string in a performance and continued by doing a one handstick performance.

So true, you cant just throw together a performance, with a single hand stick, you've got to practice

Im pretty shure its because they are fibreglass, if your talking about henries then invest in somke carbon fibres instead. also shorter sticks should fair better then long sticks.

Ive been lucky enough to never have anything brake at a bad time, but saying that ive never preformed. It seems im tempting fate 

Although to be safe i always carry a few lengths of cut and soaped string in my wallet[next to some juggling store business cards], definetly comes in handy.

bent a pair oh henrys alu to 90 degrees before haha. my carbons are starting to come loose now ant the grips. any advice? or do i just get new ones?

Hmm...I've read/heard somewhere of fiberglass sticks that were coated with something at the ends so that the string wouldn't break, but I can't remember where now...
I'll get back to you if I find it again.  But carbon sticks don't sound too bad.

A bit of glue over the ends normally works, like superglue or something thicker.  Just to form a plastic coating over all the little nicks and such in the end.

If there's another way, it's new to me.

and EVERY time it was doing an excalibur genocide somewhere where there really want enough room for one
