What move caused your addiction?
« on: December 21, 2006, 10:52:51 AM »
As the topic says,

Personally I got addicted after seeing my brother doing a cross, I was like "WTF IMPOSSIBLE'' 1 week later I was doing that cross, suicides, and just about every trick out there(basics) on diabolotricks.com.

Um....

Mine was probably the wait of having a quick go of a brothers mates diabolo to actually buying my own.

My want to try it again just built up until i found one and i practiced like mad as soon as i got it.

And diabology has probably cause my "long term" addiction.

Infinite Suicide.  :o

From that moment that I saw it, that was the only trick I wanted to learn. Now I know how to do it but I just can't stop.  :)

I'm thinking of whipcatches between the legs and umbrella did look really cool when I first time saw diaboloing. That was like 6 years ago or something. Then a year ago it was some very basic one diabolo stuff I saw and decided to actually start diabolo myself, when I remembered I could do some of those things.
It is interesting to see where I have got from there. I feel that I can do some pretty cool stuff with diabolos now. Also Tomorrow I have my first real performance. Also my five balls is finally working quite nicely :D

I apologise for going bit offtopic, I'm just so happy with my juggling overall at the moment :D

for me when I saw elevator I thought it looked so cool and so hard, so I got a diabolo and within a day I was hooked.

Not really a move that caused my addiction....more a person.

Athos had his at school one day and it went from there.

While at our school circus arts/physical theatre is on of the programs they do. So our teacher can do all sorts of stuff. then one day he brought the diabs/ devil stix out for us to try. he demoed the diab and i saw it and was hooked from then on.

Many years ago I went to a happy clappy activities camp with my school in year 5. In between the activites there was spare time to do whatever you wanted so me and a friend found this old diabolo in this barrel and used it every day. I only learnt to throw it extremly high and catch it but it was enough to get me hooked, even though I didn't use another diabolo for about 2 years.

it wasn't really a move that got me hooked, more the fact that I discovered internet with diabolotricks and the dutch forum and stuff. and the books of Donald Grant. I don't diabolo that often anymore, but I still progress :-).
some people think they are better because they can do something better

Hahaha...I saw somebody throw it about five feet in the air and catch it, and knew it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen in my life.

there is this guy at my school. he started a small craze of it a couple of years back, i saw it then, but was never really interested, then late last year (october 2006) i was just surfing the web and came across the oddballs website, (local london juggling shop) and realised i had been there before for kite/skeat equipment. i looked around the site and brought a diabolo. never looked back...
i go for walk now? it easy to find papers! look, i got this bag of filters!
