its a shame! we already have a long discussion in the german forum www.diabolotreff.de!
this guy holds the official world record for the most throws over a bar in 7?? meters height in 1 minute! amazingly stupid isnt it???

only 12 throws!!!

As OLOBAID has already said, we have discussed that in the german-diabolo forum (one of our members has seen that on TV, recorded and put it on youtube).
We do not even know who that guy is... He looks so weird, he even drops after his whip catch in the end. It must have taken him longer to put this costume and the color on his body than to learn diabolo at all

So we have come to the conclusion that this record is a shame for the diabolocommunity and that if it is so easy to get an guinness-world record, we will try some better stuff in the next diabolocamp (highest diabolo-tower, longest diabolo passing line or something like that

)

EDIT: Just to add that: His so called "record" was not to throw high but to throw the diabolo over the bar as often as possible in 1 minute.

well, we all know better!

well, if its really 7 meters and there is a minute time then its possible (in theory) to throw diabolo over the bar 27 times. (if you can use only one diabolo)

i know any diabolist can do that with little luck.

YEah, that sucks, can someone please beat it. I think one problem would be filming it, though it'd probably be OK if you did it from a distance outdoors so that everything was in shot.

Some of the older UK members might remember 'you bet' that was on TV every Saturday evening.
They'd get someone who was skilled in something, bmx, rollerblading, memorising things whatever and manufacture a semi official sounding record that could a) be done in a TV environment b) offer some kind of suspense/excitement to the great unwashed.

Looks like the same setup to me. I've seen that diaboloist before and I'm pretty sure he could easily knock off the 27 throws that have been mentioned. (as could thousands) but I don't think thats what thats about.

I remember one guy had memorised the shape of airport terminals and runways, but in this day and age thats dangerously off topic.

Yes the sheer randomness was what appealed to me, is this actually in the GB of world records? If so could be fun to have some Roy castle type action at a convention and break it [a two and three d version just for bragging rights]. diabolo camp event maybe to shake the lid off another can of worms

No disrespect to the performer it was a good gig to get and he'd put the effort into an outfit and he also used a black circus.

for the audience it must have looked very difficult, so maybe its not a bad performance. but for me as a diabolist its painful to watch...

Thats kind of my point. Pretty much anyone involved with something out of the ordinary who sees something like this involving something they are passionate about will squirm. We know it about diabolo and Juggling, singers and musicians will have moments like this, probably even memory people...

How is moaning about how bad the record is going to help? It's not like you're gonna change it or anything. This is what people like to see... high throws.

Here in Brussels, we are going to have a festival called "Bruxelles Bravo", and in this place called "de beurs" there is going to have a "beat a world record night". I guess i will just try to beat this one (shouldn't be too hard) by doing a 2 high.
If i do it, i will not only be in the guiness book, but i actually will kick somebody out of it, which is even cooler!

I'll tell you more when i know more.
