Melbourne Juggling Convention.
« on: June 03, 2007, 08:22:23 AM »
Melbourne’s 1st Juggling Convention plans to bring together local, national and international individuals into one venue for a long weekend of circus-inspired fun.

Juggling is just the start. Other disciplines include:

    * staff twirling
    * poi twirling
    * hula hoop
    * diabolo
    * plate spinning
    * devil sticks
    * cigar boxes
    * and more!

There will be many free workshops over the three days, with levels from beginners through to advanced, as well as juggling and circus video projection, and guest performers and teachers.

Amazing things will happen, and you should be a part of it!

The Schedule:

Friday

The main hall and outdoor areas will be open after midday for people to relax, have a juggle, enjoy the music and go to workshops. In the evening there will be an informal ‘Renegade Show’ - a relaxed open stage show where anyone can get up and perform.

Saturday

All juggling areas open at 10am with workshops running all day, and in the evening a professional ‘Public Show’ in a 250-seat theatre!

Sunday

All juggling areas open at 10am, more workshops, with the ever popular ‘Juggling Olympics’. Convention closes 7pm.

He's not training us anymore. He was only on for a term. That "9" Business.. Is that a joke or just something you want me to say to look wack? ;)

Sweet hopefully we can get a bit of a diabolo posse going on ;) I reckon I'll be able to go. Bring your camera Jake! Or I'll snap your rings, split your balls, Burn all your string, bend your sticks and rust up the axles on your diabolos ;)

Convention was absolutely awesome. Great skill level. Great to meet Sacha (Jester) and watch his awesome samurai diabolo routine. And Ben (Bennyboy) who is amazingly good considering the amount of time he had been diaboloing- He got the 180 fan the first time I showed him how to do it properly!

The renegade show was fun. Our '3D vertax hyperloop' entrance was just too technical :P Although my tricks went pretty crap. As for the public show, just mindblowingly good. Earl Shatford's 7 rings with a headbounce and 9 rings at the end of his performance was insane. An awesome rolla bolla act too by somebody I can't remember the name of.
Personal Highlight:Getting siteswaps 441 and 4440
Funniest moment: (As I was showing Sacha my 2D vertax fan) "(loud cough)BEARINGS!". and Jake riding the minibike a close second
Worst moment: Hitting myself in the eye after a diabolo flung out of my shuffle after a sun. (Sacha - "Yeah, we'll definately put that in the renegade!"

Overall. Totally awesome.

Hahah. Very cheesily :P
Jake has videos. But I wouldn't post our renegade - its crap. And I don't think we should post anything from the public show without permission. We have your performance Sacha.
