11 days to get your footage to me. Just to clarify for some people - DV-AVI format may be written as "DV-NTSC" or "DV-PAL" in your editing program.

Please just import the original footage, cut out the section you want, and export it in DV-NTSC (United States, Canada, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, Mexico) or DV-PAL (almost everywhere else).

Lots of people are using http://www.mediafire.com/ which is working really well!

D'oh! I've been away for two weeks and haven't got a camera handy to capture anything. I said to myself I'd make a conscious effort with this years video to get some of my stuff on there. I still have a week to borrow a camera so there's still a chance of a 2D integral or 2 ;)

Sounds like it'll be brilliant once again.

Looking forward to it...

8 more days!

12 people have sent in their videos so far. You won't believe some of these clips. Included is what just might be the most revolutionary 2d trick since the sprinkler... and I haven't a clue what's going on! There are also lots of 1d clips and some innovative fun clips, so there's room in this video for everybody.

Remember that your clips should be somewhere between 30-100mb. If they aren't, they probably aren't in their native DV format.

If you send the file to Sean, he'll be able to answer your question.

Yes, send me the file. 640 x 480 by a digital camera is probably OK. 320 x 240 is probably too small.

Just make sure you are sending me the original files - not converted in any way.

Ok, I got a camera, recording to uncompressed avi with vegas will be ok? because if I use it without the computer it will auto encode to an old mpeg 4 codec it is a cheap sdcard camcorder though but it's quality isn't too bad

Truly uncompressed avi will make HUGE files. Can you send me the original mpeg4 files? Otherwise DV-AVI/DV-PAL/DV-NTSC will work.

I think so yes, but instead of choosing 'uncompressed', choose PAL/NTSC DV. Uncompressed is unnecessarily big compared to DV. It's both the same quality. It's a camcorder that records on a mini DV tape I assume?

sean/martijn,
just an idea i had for whoever is putting the video together - would it be possible to put the name of the person, for example at the bottom of the screen throughout the compilation? that way, we can see exactly who is performing in real time. last year, if i wanted to see who did a certain trick i had to skip to the end to get the list, and then find a familiar face and count (ie the person 3 videos after tempei) - and there were a lot of *really* decent tricks i wanted to put the names to!
looking forward to this years compilation a lot.

That's me! :)

That's the plan... although I may just put the name the first time each person appears to keep it from getting too tedious for me and distracting for the viewer.

Sean, somehow my DV recording is turned off on my movie maker(yeah.. that's the best i got- eyetoy recording using movie maker.. it's a pretty fine quality) which other quality would fit?
after all, this movie is basicly to be on youtube.. it isn't such a large resolution needed for it to look good on youtube...
BTW, i got many other options.. i think the best quality is 2.1 Mpbs of video,640X480 resolution and 30 FPS..
would that be ok?
i also got an option called "High Quality Video(Large)"..
i really wanna get into this collaboration and i don't want the filming to be my obstacle..
thanks..

There's a high quality download aswell as a youtube version, so the quality will probably still have to be pretty high!

How come that option is disabled? Perhaps try (re)installing the latest version? A print screen would be helpful.

No, for Youtube: if you put crap quality in, you get crap quality out. If you put HQ in... you get decent quality out. And what guppy said, it's all 'bout the HQ direct download version :)
