Henrys grey fleck string
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:44:57 PM »
is this really rubbish?
last night i  replaced my string with the grey fleck as i had run out of all others having been told that more or less straight away its good instead of having to wear it in. had a little practice last night and all was well, came to use it today and it did nothing but wrap up from a single wrap. i replaced it with more grey fleck and again, nothing but wrapping up.

is it that maybe my whole reel is dirty or is it just rubbish?

p.s no offence to henrys my favorite string ive used is henrys yellow

Alex!

Not too much, other then I have to really make sure that my technique is right. Or else it will bind like it's going out of style lol. It's not that big of a deal I mean it almost makes you have to diabolo right.

I pulled the core out of a length and tried it out, it seems to me performs much better, doesn't bind as much... I think because the core is loose in the string that it pulls and moves in the string making it bind up more

NEVER BUY THIS STRING! Now that I have have some time with it I have come to the conclusion that IT SUCKS IN EVERY WAY! You have to replace it like every other day or else it gets too grippy to play with, and it binds even when brand new. THIS STRING IS JUST RUBBISH! I was just playing with 2 diabolos and it didn't tell me it was going to bind on a single left backwrap and so one diabolo got catapulted at my face and busted open my lip so, this string SUCKS and IT DOES HURT TO TRY IT. (This is very bad as I play trumpet and now I can't play for a few days!)

How true, I do it all the time.

I think the grey henry's string has a purpose as do all the other colors. After my diabolo wrapped up for the 6th time when using the grey flecked string I learned to be more careful when applying wraps to the axle. I have applied that learning experience to all the string I've used and have had barely any wrap-ups since.
If Diaboloing was easy then everyone would be doing it.

Well, I have also learned to prevent wrap ups with technique changes. So even with that, I have decided that it's worth investing for the slipperier string, but the white string is good for bearing diabolos, because those don't wrap up anyways

Really? I was always curious about bearing diabolos wrapping up and how Henry's white string would work with them. I am hoping to get a couple Fly's someday and this new info has me even more excited. :D

any string is good for bearing diabolos! they never wrap up unless you put multiple wraps on.

when i bought my sundia carbons, they came with free white string and i thought it was ok, it lasted for about a week, and now i have just restrung with henrys yellow and it broke within a day!

maybe because of rigourous vertax training :P
