There are alot of members on this forum who belong to various juggling retailers or who produce equipment for diabolists. This thread can be used to suggest ideas for fututre prodcuts, improvements, ideals and preferences which could be added or introduced to the current diabolo set, whether technological or aesthetical. hopefully this thread will help manurfacturers see what diabolists really want.

I'll start it off:

1) Inspired by the ideas suggested with the 'fly' diabolo; Different coloured hubs and washers could be produced for mainstream diabolos like the 'Finesse' or 'Circus' so that the diabolo could remain one colour. White versions would be especialy useful for 'Finesse' as your equipment would match as a set if you chose white carbons over black. Or alternatively, a wider variation of handstick colours.

good idea!

i would like a wider colour of diabolos, espescially finesse, and yes someone should really make some different coloured axles and stuff.

also i would love to see carbons that dont waste string! i like long carbons and they waste loads of string!

different coloured handsticks would be cool

but the thing i really want in some flys that are not so brittle! i mainly play on concrete and i like bearings so a rubber (or some sort of tough plastic) would be great!

That would be ideal!

I also think that a diabolo company should work on a pair of strong wooden sticks that don't have you tying the string on and then have it get all twisted up during routine play.
If Diaboloing was easy then everyone would be doing it.

One of the current trends in yo-yoing is the use of hub stacks. These are 2 additional bearings securely mounted along the same axis as the yo-yo's axle. See the picture below (the hub stack is the white plastic part in the middle):

These hub stacks can be grabbed whilst the yo-yo is spinning allowing it to be held or manipulated, changing the plane/axis of spin or moved between mounts.
Some videos will probably give you a better sense of what I'm talking about than my rather clumsy description:
Project Red Alert Trick Page

Anyway, the point of all this was that I'd like to see someone adapt this idea for diabolos. Obviously you'd need a longer stack that protruded from the diabolo's cup but I think the theory is sound.

I would like to have a universal light kit, or something that connects the finesse light kit to flys, suns, tiabolos, circuses, all sorts of diabolos with really good light kits.

That's sounds cool, it sounds slightly similar to the adjustments tre'space use but more commercialised.

EDIT: Taken out gimmicks

Guy Heathcote brought up the hub stacks a while ago, can't remember the relevance though.

I'd like to see some new and interesting cup designs and paint jobs (like decals and paint masks) similar to the stuff you can do to a Henrys Viper shell but in a retailers products.  It'd be a nice to see something more than just block colours.  The glittery shiny stuff you get on Taibolos is pretty close.

Oh, boy would that be sweet.
Special designs would make diabs look much cooler, especially those specifically designed to look even cooler while spinning.

I'd also love it if you could buy diabolos with mixed coloured cups (i.e. a Green&Red cup diabolo bought individually without the need to buy one red diabolo and one green).

Durable Light Sticks that are playable on concrete. Now that would be amazing.
No offense to those different light stick makers out there, of course ::)

a diabolo made specifically for vertax would be good (bearing option with something that covers the axle nut so you can do ufos and not damage the tip of the handles.
the yoyo hub stacks look like an interesting idea.

Maybe double ended sticks...this would allow the use of just two sticks but with two diabolos on separate strings kind of...I'll try and make a diagram type of thing:

          |---------------------------|                                                             |---------------------------|
          |                                      |                                                             |                                      |
          |                                      |                                                             |                                      |        <---new sticks
          |                                      |              <---normal sticks                        |                                      |
          |                                      |                                                             |                                      |
          |                                      |                                                             |                                      |
          |                                      |                                                             |---------------------------|

I guess you would hold the sticks in the middle..then put a different diabolo on each string. I'm not sure what this would allow for maybe 2d vertax...I don't know. This would be very hard to do so maybe variations could be made.

Another new idea is perhaps two loops of string from the one end...Maybe one shorter and one longer

its funny you should bring up that double ended stick idea. i've been playing with that on and off for about 6 months, there are some strange things to be done.

G5's kick ass,

I keep thinking about length customizable sticks (something that could be changed in a matter of minutes). Golly, I'm such a handstick nut  ;D.
If Diaboloing was easy then everyone would be doing it.

Sticks with grips like the inside of felt tip pens (the ones which are coated in plastic) might work. If they could be used they would be the comfiest handsticks ever!

Break a felt tip pen, or one of those Berol pens they give to little kids in schools and you'll see what I mean. Essentially it's felt wrapped by a layer of plastic.
