Yea, i enjoyed this far more than most of Yabe's performances. Shame about the "throw it really high" bit at the end though.

Just part of his usual routine with 1 diabolo. Maybe there's more elsewhere?

Incredible performance. I love how he got the biggest cheers for the high toss and magic knot.

Is it just me who though he had a really bad time (for Ryo) in his 1 d section?
Maybe I'm spoiled having seen him perform pretty much faultlessly in the past.

I think its more proof that he's human, which I think most people will welcome ;)

I really liked this performance - probably because it had some actual differences from his usual act.

I personally didn't enjoy it. I got bored with it when he got up to two. I don't know I think I just don't like his style. There was nothing that really urged me to keep watching.

That was a good video of Yabe :)
I like that finishing knot of his that he does, quite whimsy
His reverse vertax orbit/bounce is cool as usual :)

It´s good to see he´s mixing in some new tricks but I think he´s been better before. My favoritevideo of him is still the promo from his old website.

Oh, and what kind of an event was this (I didn´t read about it before)?
Just for streetshows in general or what?

I wouldn't say it's those tricks in particular that got the cheers, it's just where he ended the sections so the audience could applaud.  They'd probably clap after every trick if he stopped and took a bow each time.

Ryo Yabe is still a great great performer in my opinion and that was an excellent performance that shows confidence and skill.  Perhaps it was windy where he was causing him to fluff it, that's the only reason I can think of, the weather ;-)  Cheers for posting the video.  I'm liking his red diabolos more than the black, his costume's got better too.

And yeah, the Daidougei is the World Cup of street performances I believe, held every year in Japan.  I'm not sure how I feel about stage performances transferring to the street.  I know it doesn't often go well the other way.

I'm sure stage is pretty easy to transfer to a street festival, because the crowds are already there to watch. to go from stage to the real street is very hard (or so I've heard from a number of friends). If you want to do well the performance has to be very different, and employs very different performance skills.

I liked it but... one of my favourite diabolo videos is the WJF one of Yabe that Norbi filmed, which I think was in 2005? In that vid he was pulling off insane tricks, like 3d sprinkler, double sun armstall, 2d in each hand etc. My question is, if he was like that then, I'd say he should be pulling off even crazier stuff now.
Now I know this was a performance, so he has to do solid tricks, but I would like to see and edited video of him, if he does have anything new and awesome.

The show defiantly was too solid. I know that sounds silly but I bet he could of done more 3D without any trouble. In his interview with Luke Burrage he said he was practising only 1 and 4. I wonder how good his four is?

That was 2004.  BTW thank you Sean for finding the vid with Tony in it.
