Diabolo Performances
« on: December 02, 2007, 07:36:23 PM »
Hi, i've been asked to diabolo onstage in a circus scene for a school play and i was just wondering whether anyone had any suggestions as to which are the best tricks for diaboloing onstage. for my main bit i'll be onstage with someone with devilsticks next to me and a load of jugglers behind. i'm not very safe with infinite suicides and i'm even more dangerous with vertax, so those 2 are out; i think the most daring trick i'll risk doing is a mini-genocide (not full gen, otherwise i'll hit the devilsticks - actually if there is anything that a devilsticker and diaboloist could do together that would be awesome). so yeah, if anyone has any ideas about relatively easy combos / easy but good-looking tricks please reply quickly as the performance is actually on tuesday :P!
cheers

Throw it high,
Do it around your back,
Throw it high,
Do it around your leg,
And you should probably throw it high a few times.

Awesome, sage advice from norbi - cheers. can you think of any tricks or anything though just to set me apart from the devilsticks and jugglers and just generally make me look good though - obviously the inverse/trapeze exits, climb the string magic knot etc. but is there anything out there in the wide diabolo world which would just make me look amazing until i dropped it?

If you were brave enough, and the devilsticker knew the propeller trick, an infinite and propeller beside one another would look good. But if what I'm reading correctly is that you're not too solid with you tricks, then I think Norbi's sage advice is probably your smartest bet.

People are easily impressed by any sort of release tricks...
Like genocides, duicides, etc.

dont forget string climbs

and lots of them.

btw, i think that high throw will impress many non - diabolists people more than a sextuple excalibur duicide...

but, on the other side, i think that genocide might impress them because of the cool " whooshes "  :P

String climb with one stick under your foot.
Duicides.
Big genocides.
Creative and showy whips.
Trash web.
And, as norbi says, throw it high.

You could drop it onto the devilstickers stick and he could flick it back(Grind to grind throw)

That would be hard as devilsticks are silicone and would grip heaps.
