« on: January 30, 2008, 06:45:19 AM »
;D Howdy folks, if anyones got the time, and could post a video tutorial of Donald Grants Gunslinger move, I would really appreciate it.
After looking at this weeks VoTW, Im inspired to learn this trick, looks the bomb in vertax, just after the regular method though!

I might if I can remember where the camera is. I doubt it'd be HQ enough though.

Blimey Paul, you forgotten this one already?
Set up is similar to a stopover entry to cats cradle. so stopover, poke stick through. At this point for cats C youd throw the diabolo, instead turn hand as you put your index finger through between both sets of string and let go of the handles. it should be pretty obvious from there.

Works well with modern sticks since the string buts up against the grips, not sure how happy it is with wooden ones

Nice one Sean, not even forgotten it, just actually never seen it before!
Seeing Williams Vertax version was the first time I have ever seen the trick!
Sorry to be a pain in the bum, I followed your directions up to the turn your hand part...
Could you be more specific with direction of hand turning, and where I need to put my finger(!)

I think Christopher's version (second video in Will's VotW thread) uses the same sticktrap that I ended video tennis 2 with. That's done by doing a J whip, putting the left stick in the main loop, bringing it around and under the diabolo in an ACW motion, and letting go of the right stick. That gives you the trap, to spin it round I guess you just... spin it round?

Beni
(Possible use of rev kits; do the stick trap, grab a hubstack and get the diabolo into vertax plane, give it a little momentum and you're good to go. Could've been a good end to the combo. Meh.)

Ok, so the sticktrap method works, but its doesnt stand up to being spun around.
Thanks for the stick trap though, thats new to me too.

Hello.

In William C's VOTW, he performed one of Donald Grant's tricks in vertax.

Could someone please give a tutorial for both the regular and vertax versions of the gunslinger?

*note* I think I found a tutorial for it before, so I did a search to begin with and came up with nothing. Sorry if there is another topic, if so please post a link here.

Sorry, I've just found the thread I saw a while back.

Anyways, what about the regular gunslinger?

And with the vertax version, I can't get things to work very well;
I do a right full stopover, but I never have enough time to get the left stick into the loop before the diabolo OD's on string and pukes everywhere.

While doing the Vertax one just keep spinning as you're trying to put the left stick in, I don't know what else to say..but that's it.

Tried it just then, got really dizzy, went to PC- now here we are.

I think Will's making a tutorial, so I'll look forward to that and keep practicing once I get my balance back.

Something like this only slower :)

I fixed the link, but that's for the excalibur version. Still there's some decent explanation on the 1st page of the thread.

This is my attempt at a walkthrough! This is for righties (switch all rights to left for southpaw!

1. Do a right stopover

2. Thread the point of your left stick through the loop formed by the stopover

3. Throw the diabolo up and catch in a cats cradle on the string cross.

4. Put both sticks in parallel with each other and the butt end of the sticks are pointing to the right and put your finger in the loops on the right hand side strings

5. Turn to your left so the sticks and diabolo are on your right

6. Swing everything down and then throw back round in a clockwise direction

7. Repeat swing for as long as desired

8. Spit out chewing tobbaccer!

9. Catch sticks and you can drop to open string or throw a duicide for the more adventurous!

10. Walk off into sunset!

Hope this helps!  :-D
