messing around and look what i found
« on: February 04, 2008, 07:22:45 PM »
ok this is a thread for tricks that you found while messing around, not flukes but tricks that you've been able to reproduce and that look cool, instructions would be good so that other people could try them
i've got one that i found earlier when the diabolo fell off a cuckoo clock and ended in the same kind of knot you get in a trapeze cradle knot
this trick works better with a small diabolo
instructions
part 1 (cuckoo clock)
hold the left stick horizontally, bring the right stick over the top and push into the 2 strings on the back and bring your right hand up, swing the diabolo back and forth through the triangle you made
part 2 (cuckoo grind)
bring the diabolo into the middle of the "clock" and let it down onto the stick so it grinds
part 3(cuckoo knot)
let the diabolo fall off the stick and  to the right as it is grinding, this leaves a knot at the top of the string similar to the trapeze cradle knot (it undoes itself if you pull the strings apart, put both sticks into your left hand, hold the end of the string with your three fingers, throw the diabolo out of the knot and onto the string, throw the diabolo off the string and pull the sticks apart, voila you now have it spinning on an open string :D
so anyone else got anything
tricks im happy with
2d stuff
grinds
sticktrap
sticktrap double release
sprinkler/sprinkler suicide

nice idea.
this is a "tight suicide cradle release"  ;D
do a trapeze cradle, then stick the right stick into the left triangle and let go so it just hangs down, then toss it while still holding the left stick. the stick rotates once around the diabolo, then you catch it on open string. takes a while to get it right

I found one laceration-ish yesterday. Normal slack caught with the left as well. Lock the string on the back and move the diabolo through the loop (not onto any strings) and drop down into open string from a horrible web. I have no idea how/why it works, but it looks cool.

Also, reversed double slack (I don´t know it´s name) into two types of stars that drops into left backwrap.

Apart from the star, which I can't do anymore, they were flukes. If you're interested I can add a video explaining the mechanics of the star to the long list of videos I'm putting off making...

No it's not star cradle. It's a star figure. It's like an eiffel tower but with 3 'holds' on the string instead of just 2 (the third one can be a finger or the back end of the stick or maybe even another stick langerz-style).

(I'll add it to the list...)

'It's finicky.'

Finickity and pernickety meaning overly fussy. Did one derive from the other? SOED doesn't list finickity but says of pernickety originally Scottish; origin unknown.

Stop splitting hairs.

Pot - Kettle - Black?
