Spread the word. I keep to my post in the raping diabolos thread though, between the knees is ok, up your belly button is over the top.

What worries me is the fact that all you guys seem to notice what's going on around that area. CONCENTRATE ON THE SPINNING DIABOLO.  ::)

It is an interesting point, and I agree 100% for performances but just for breaking the habit of practicing it....who cares?

Well after reading your responses i feel obligated to share some of my thoughts.
I'll keep this quite serious, there was quite a lot of jokes last time. So if you're
not wanting to hear opinions and feel some seriousness about this subject read
no further.

"but just for breaking the habit of practicing it....who cares?"

Theres this hypothesis, you practice to learn. Right?  So by practicing
in certain way you learn to do it in that specific way. If you go and perform
the trick/tricks the next day, how do you do it? The way you practiced.
It would be stupid to practice if you did it otherwise, you would end up
performing the tricks in a way you haven't practiced which would equal
less good show.

"I never perform, so why would i change the style."

Dictionary says this about performing,  "present (a form of entertainment) to an audience".
Okay fine. If you never show any of your tricks to anybody, fine. It's completely fine.
BUT, putting videos, showing tricks to your friends, doing anything in public in by that
definition is performing. So, when i see videos where someone starts 3d from his/hers crotch,
it actually is performing. It's not live but it's performing. And finally if you never intend to
show your tricks to anybody why do you juggle? You could do anything that makes you feel good,
like watch movies, eat candy... so on and so on.

You just focus on that area too much.

Yes, we talk a lot about that. Just trying to make a change for this issue. As stated in earlier topic,
even audience member has asked in the middle of performance juggler to not put diabolo in there.
Also many things in life focus around that area, and quite often people notice if something weird or
maybe disgusting is happening around there. When somebody looks you juggling you would want
them to focus on your tricks and skills. Not how you look or what you have between in legs and in
what way. Luke said some wise things in the last topic. And i'll stand behind my words as well.

Make more jokes about this if it's your way to handle this. Arguments are also welcome.

I personally try to refrain from doing it when showing stuff to non-diaboloers, as it seem a little strange, but there is a difference between a performance and a video. Plus it's the easiest way for a lot of people, and practicing not doing it may hinder progress and be largely wasted anyway.

Beni, yet the videos are available for non-diaboloers as well. So even if the
video wasn't meant for them to see, they can watch them. Maybe you should
rethink about the stuff. I've put some videos on the net of my tricks, intended
for other experts but when going to a performance i has happened many times
that the people who pay me have watched my videos before my performance.

And about the practice, if you think that by not putting it there would hinder your
practice you should think of other stuff as well. Like how good is the practice space,
how you eat (right nutrients give you more energy),  thought process to speed up
learning and so on... actually the placement of diabolo hinders the practice session
less than these other things do.

Diabolo Bro, could you specify more what you mean. I have strong feeling that i already
answered to your habit breaking thing. And i believe that you aren't asking who in person
cares... So maybe more specifying would clear me what you meant.

"Og;dc" comes to mind. Don't try to force people to do something if they don't want to. If they don't, they won't. But props for making the video.

Alright sorry about that. Well as a more serious note, I guess your propaganda has worked since I never put the diabolo in my crotch anymore.

Exactly what I thought once I started reading this thread (Og;dc)

I put teh diab in between my legs (No..Not way up there O.O lol.)   under the arm is annoying while running the other diabs, On the ground is a bitch to bend over or do a kick up.

The problems start when you automatically going to put other things there :o

That was like juggling porn. I agree with Will, it's up to the individual, but I still liked the video, it was well made.
I put the diab between my legs, only when i practise 3 though.

Funny video. :)

Kick up's a fairly easy way to get the second diabolo in your hand. And it looks way cooler than that other method.

less than these other things do.

Hmm.. 3d low comes to mind. Learning that is tedious anyway, it would take far longer if you had to learn a different method of getting the 3rd diabolo in.

Still, you provide a convincing argument, I still think there's too much of a difference between performance diabolo and hobby diabolo though.

Also, If your busking, it's better to put the diabolo somewhere safe than to put it on the dirty floor when you're not using it, leaving it open to rolling away and/or getting stolen (depending where you are).

I understand your 3 diabolo argument. That's one of the points
why we talk about it so much. If one didn't use the crotch start
from the beginning and instead started the second diabolo from
somewhere else. There would never be that situation of having
to learn the new placement in 3d low.

Then it's the matter of defining pefromance. I would define it so that
when theres people around me, even one person, i will have to present
myself in the good way. If i do this everytime even when practicing in
the gym, i would hypotetically get more gigs and performances. And this
doesn´t just apply to diabolo placements, but everything. Not saying it's
easy, but in last year i did more gigs that i've never done before.

And i believe it's about selling and presenting myself in the best way i can.
Theres many jugglers who are so much better than me, so why didn't they
get as many gigs? It´s the marketing which would be the boring part of the
whole thing.

Okay, but now i'm losing my point. The original point was... nah... you know
it already. ;) Keep up the good work and busking.

Some interesting juggling there to maximize crotch-to-prop time. Even though the intention of the video was to decrease prop rape, there was no need to have so much of it in your video.
