Your diabolo goals.
« on: April 30, 2008, 11:43:47 AM »
Hey, I searched and didn't see a thread about this and I was a bit curious.

What are your goals in diabolo? (If any) besides having fun :D

Bit of a general question - but I'm curious to the answers.

Some of mine would be

- Create a nice performable routine, Using no sticks or string. Just diabolos
- Create alot of new 2D tricks and hopefully one day inspire people to explore more. (If that makes sense...uh)
- 5 diabolo back to back passing (A distant dream..but I can hope)

That's it for now, if this thread sucks delete it.

I'm pretty sure there was a topic on this but i can't find it either.

My goals (other than fun) include
- meet as many like minded people as possible and spread the funt around (be it conventions or home visits/tours etc.)
- steal as many styles/tricks from those people as possible whilst hopefully imprinting my things onto them.
- try to consistently learn and progress.

My goals are:
- get smoother with all my tricks,
- start developing my own style and tricks.
- and of course, continue having fun.

Jake, what do you mean by no sticks or string? Do you mean contact, or have i completely misunderstood?

Yes, I'm working on some contact and sort of toss juggling with diabolo...a bit weird. But it's interesting trying to create cool tricks :)   Perhaps a video if I ever get really good at it, lol.

Oh cool! I hope we can see that sometime soon. I can't say I've seen contact explored that much.

I was thinking about summer goals with some other jugglers on MSN the other day and thought about posting a 'summer goals' thread. I guess this can work too :).

Just a thought for some of you if you're thinking about training up to your goals, set some deadline to push yourself to learn what you want (Ex: by July, I want blah throws of blah blah). Also, there's all sorts of little training tricks you can use on yourself - I think Aaro mentioned a long time ago that he would try to land a trick a certain amount one day, and when he felt confident he would try to land it more and more each day till it was consistent.

Short term summer goals:
-3high at around 30-40 catches minimum by the end. Anything more is gravy. Gonna be fun trying to learn in the good old windy, rainy city of Edinburgh.
-Possibly work on a street routine for the Edinburgh Fringe Fest in August.

Longer term goals:
-4high would probably be the max I would want to do with diabolo. I'm a numbers juggler at heart.
-Have a solid routine for diabolo that I can break out when needed.
-Suck less (because juggling is simply a progression of sucking less than before [any guesses on who I stole that from?]).

3 High with more siteswaps solid.
More originality with 1-2.
Something with Vertax that doesn't look terrible.
All the basic 3d tricks solid.

Soild 3 high
More 1 & 2d combos
Long-term goal: 3 low, 3 high sideswaps.
This topic could help shine light on the view Wes expressed and show what direction diabolo is moving toward.

There's been some really interesting posts here. I like it.

Short term goals:

learn more body combo's.
get more creative with the moves I can already do.

Long term goals:

becoming more confident with 3 low.
to create a performance (diabolo) that when performed I can say I'm happy with.

Most important to me though? Just keep enjoying what I do... ;D

My goals on fast thinking is...

With one diabolo: Get long and even longer combos that i some day be famous of them and more solid tricks.
With two diabolo: Learn to do more difficult tricks and have good looking tricks. And also learn to do good 2d high tricks.
With three diabolo: First of all i want to learn to do 3d low. And also want to learn passing with 3d with my mate. That is under work now.

Theres some of my goals.

wierd ... I was just thinking earlier today that if I had a better idea what I was aiming for, I'd be able to practice with purpose, instead of just taking props and messing about. Eventually I'll sit down and write something out for myself with a little more detail, but in the meantime ... in no particular order I want to -

expand my repertoire of body style tricks
figure out some of langerz's tricks
suck less :)
