Azacide *VIDEO*
« on: July 06, 2008, 05:13:22 PM »
Hello.

I finally got around to recording and uploading my Azacide video, and I now decided on a name for it.
Now, this is by no means a spectacular suicide but instead a fantastic opening to integrals that starts with a suicide itself.

Put that URL in your address bar to get to the video, I need to redirect to the YouTube site because the embed function seems to delete my video annotations, which contain the tutorial.

The tutorial is IN THE VIDEO, but the text boxes with the instructions are sometimes quite long and appear only briefly.
When you see a long one, pause your video to read it before you start playing to catch the whole thing.

Get creative with it!  :D

P.S: No that is NOT MY MUSIC. I know it ain't great, but it's better than listening to Aussie TV Commercials!
It's from YouTube's new editing functions, which I must say are very good.

J-whips are a kind of slack whip, it's called a J-whip because you move your stick in a 'J' motion to move the string into it.

J-whips are also called plastics and overwhips.

Slackwhips are tricks in which the string is made slack, usually by slightly hopping the diabolo off the string, and the using a stick or finger to 'whip' it around.

Anyways, video and tutorial tomorrow! I might just make the video itself the tutorial, and talk through it... hmm...

So that's just throwing a bog-standard underwhip and lifting the loop of string from underneath it?

The 'cide' name seems a little misleading to me...

EDIT: Sorry I skimmed over the I haven't finished it bit :P

Haha, sorry about that. I'm really tired and I don't want to mess up the tutorial and have people lose interest, thinking it won't work.

So yeah, please note that the tutorial is only 1/3 done at the moment, and it does involve an actual suicide.

i have my own style- it's called "Leo's sushi based ownage style"
and it's a mixture of MFP and taiwanese. but then again, isn't everybody's style some kind of mix thereof. So i guess...... i don't really have my own style.

Today I've been working on extending the suicide into a full on integral, and have been analyzing the trick so I can write up a tutorial.
Video is almost done, I can do it any time now- just need to stop being lazy.

I'll tell you now, after doing the trick lots of times, it's really great fun and will boost your confidence if you're a beginner/intermediate diaboloist, but for the real advanced guys I'd consider more to be a piece of an integral.

After the work I put into developing an integral from the Azacide, I got some really pleasing results. I manage a 30 second integral with 3 second pauses to plot my next move- with a fly. I got a 10 second integral with a sun doing the same stuff with the fly- a pretty decent amount of stuff. Of course, being a beginner to adv. suicides, I only got repeated Tomicides, Kyocides and Mini/Genocides  ;D

Ahh, I gotta get some more time for experimenting...

Well, sorry for the wait- hopefully at least some beginners will learn a simple trick  :P

I'll try to get my creative motivation back once my new gear arrives this week, hopefully (Thanks Nev, by the way  :)  ).

I've been practicing 2D slacks, and I think I'm close to cracking something great, but secret  ;)
If it works out, I'll send it to the collab.

pretty cool, dont really understand what you do in the beginning, maybe just let the slack loose and whip it around again, either way it looks cool
