One thing is I'd urge people to avoid the Henry yo-yos if possible. They are pretty old technology at this point and you can get better for cheaper now. The viper really doesn't have much going for it for offstring anymore. It's gap is really tiny, so it's hard to land and it doesn't sleep very long either.

If you live in Europe, you may need to pay a bit more shipping to get some decent yo-yos, but you don't have to break the bank. For regular string tricks, something like the Kickside or Lyn Fury from Yoyojam plays very well and are just $16. I believe the Velocity from Yoyofactory is supposed to be nice and is just $20. The higher end like a Dark Magic tend to be around $50. The metal yo-yos can be very nice, but you don't need to spend $100+ unless you want something shiny.

For offstring, the Big Ben from Yoyojam is actually pretty neat. It's big and while it's all plastic, it is pretty durable and about $16. It also tends to bounce off of a hard floor instead of running off on you so you can recover from a miss. I saw a bunch of people at the World yo-yo contest using the Duncan Hayabusa, which is about $23.

Yeah, I have a Velocity, and it's really good for beginners, to about mid-level skill.  It has gear that you can set to have different string resistances (I really have no clue on any yo-yo terms, I'm really just making this stuff up as I go, so if anyone has some actual terms...  :P ).  You can have the two pieces close together so it will come back up as you pull it, or you can have it wider so you can bind and use it more like a higher end yo yo.

And I know they JUST came out with a brand new yo yo for about $40 that does everything a metal yo yo does, only it is made out of plastic.  It was really nice and really smooth, but I'm broke, so I couldn't buy it.  :(  Also, I'm not sure what it was called, because I haven't found anything on it online, as it hasn't been fully released yet.

Check ebay for nice yoyos (and take look at those weird "galaxy" diabolos), I got a "skyline"-yoyo there for cheap (well relatively, it cost 90 USD with shipping to Europe) and it´s a great yoyo, imvho it´s worth getting a metal if you want to learn some cool tricks to transfer to diabolo later.

Oh and learn to bind immediately so you can use them.

Getting a modded FHZ at MJC. Silicone Recess, beefcaked and some things I forgot.. Clear too so it'll remind me of crystal suns, or maybe I'll try and dye it.

Nothing to do with that, plastic yo-yos are just as good as (if not better than) metals if modded properly. That makes them cheaper and performing the same (maybe, depening on how you do it) ;).
Why Bother When You Can Diabolo?

Just that yoyo culture is pretty crappy here no, yoyo's around.
Laymen actually recognize yoyo as diabolo here...

The economy thing was a joke. I do know that plastics
perform good as well as metals. I have googled thing or
two you know ;) Got my first plastic in -91. Wooden axles.
Those were the times... Not sure about how it was in UK
but during depression yoyo's were really big here. Since that, all just
gone. Probably our yoyo's in whole country doubled when Lz came to visit
last summer.
