String Questions
« on: August 29, 2008, 11:25:54 PM »
Okay,
I have a few questions about strings.

How many times should I replace string?
When I yoyo, I usually replace the string about every 2 hours.
Does that apply to Diabolos as well?

What kind of string should I buy?
Should a buy a roll or just buy the string packs?

Thanks for everyone's help!

I personally change my string around once every one and a half weeks, but some times longer or shorter if I for example, have been using it in wet conditions. Ultimately the regularity of string changing depends upon usage. You can see a physical change in the strings colour(when it becomes darker in colour due to dirt) and feel (noticeable because of 'power-pulls'(when the string gets tangled and chews up, sometimes violently) occurring more often. These signs can tell you when to change string.

When I buy string I always buy it in a roll as it costs much less per meter.

Hope I've answered your questions  ;)

hey

its a huge waste to change string every 2 hours,
I usually change the string after 2 weeks (when I play every for about 5 hours)
but when you play less the string can even less longer

the string that I like best is the yellow of henry's, but you'll have to rub some dry soap on it because its very slippy in the beginning

also, rubbing the string against the back of your neck or hair can extend the lifetime of your string. I actually like how the string handles when you do it on old string. It becomes nice and slick, but not as (nearly) unmanageable as brand new henry's yellow.

p.s. - be careful not to pull the string too fast against your neck ... you were warned

Just get it on a roll.

Clean string is great, once you get used to the feeling you will soon not be enjoying dirty string in quite the same way.
