Does the error just say "server misconfiguration"? It's working for me and I don't see anything in the error logs, so I'm stumped. Working for you now?

Managing the search database is a nightmare. Overloads the server trying to do anything.

Void, you need some tweaking! If you use the search field in the current topic, it only searched for the keywords in that specific topic. It takes some getting used to, but can be quite useful I reckon.

This is somewhat amusing: (I hope that the attachment works)

edit - allright, sorry Void, my bad.

HA! I never figured that out. Just figured it was a bug that forced you to search twice sometimes.

That's genius!!

(Still, I think his error was legitimate. I have seen server misconfiguration errors before. Could have just been having a hard time connecting to the SQL database.)

No, I'm not failing to find any search results, I'm failing to get a DCA search results page.

500 Server Error

A misconfiguration on the server caused a hiccup. Check the server logs, fix the problem, then try again.

Still happening here, both from the search box in the header, and the box that pops up when I click "Search" in the menu.

Happened last night and today.

OK, now this is really odd. I'm still getting that error, but only when I search for "durham". Other searches are working fine.

Ha - you're right! That is really odd. I'll have a go at rebuilding the search index when the server is less loaded with users.

Would it be possible to add an option on the search box to either search the current thread/board or the entire forum?

I'm sure it's possible, but far beyond my understanding of the code behind SMF.

-if you're viewing a thread it searches in the thread
-if you're not viewing a thread it searches the forum

For now, we'll have to make do with that. They are about to release a brand new default theme for SMF anyways. We'll see what that has in store.
