Because i'm in school counsil i thought that we should have a talent show so that people would finally apreciate my diaboloing (at last! ;))  its going to happen in may but i bet that i'll come last because the judges (rest of school counsil) hate me

I got 4th tonight. I had less than a week to prepare, my string broke, got the song last night, among other set backs. I don't know if any video was taken I'm sure it was. Though I feel like I was cheated a place cause I lost to a girl reciting a poem (1st place).

What makes you think that -  did she sleep with the judges? ;D

I don't know, but it doesn't seem that a knack for literature is a suitable talent for a "talent show" but hey maybe the fact that it she was short a few minutes on the required 3 to 4 minutes was ignored could also seem a bit suspicious.

There's a real skill to oratory and public speaking, reading poetry can be done well or badly, it's just a different skill.

Of course, I wasn't there and have no idea of the circumstances, it's just an appreciation of different talents.  String breakage can really put you out of your stride though.

i tried out for our campus' largest talent show with $1500 first place prize and two $750 prizes for student pick and most technical (basically just runner-ups) and we didn't make it in >.<
before I came here the previous chinese yo-yo (diabolo) group was in the show every other year, they don't allow the same groups to perform consecutive years, makes it unfair for others. last year we did a filler after all the other performances so the judges had time to total up their scores so we weren't part of the competition. I'm failing, someone skilled come to University of Texas at Austin and keep the diabolos spinning on campus. (Eric, this is directed at you)
