So after learning the sprinkler i was wondering what sort of things you can do with it, i can sun, pirouette and sun out but thats bout all.Ive heard of suicides out and adding more wraps but thats about it. Ideas?

If you do a sprinkler, wrapping on the inside (closest to your body) with your left hand than you can do a classic suicide (like a sun) then let the string unwrap giving a double suicide. From a double sprinkler i have managed 4 suicides so far using an infinite suicide style.

For a week I have concentrated nearly my all training in sprinklers. At this time I manage to do triple sprinkler with stick release. Next thing to learn is maybe triple sprinkler with stick release while pirouette. About few months ago I thought that I'm never able to do even triple sprinkler...and now with stick release while pirouette!

The infinite sprinkler suicide that Will mentioned sounds pretty cool. I'm not sure if I'm able to do it, because I can't even do normal infinite with left hand. I have to try it.

One nice trick is sprinkler behind the back. Then a stick release and then catch it in front of you.
Also some combos like double sprinkler sun + pirouette + sun + stick release are very cool (really hard ones also).

I can do triple sprinkler suicides and a few other things. One thing is though I cant sustain a sprinkler past a single. I can only get a double to last about 5 seconds before they crash. how do you get them to sustain? Its definatly not a speed problem and I can keep them in line. I dont get hpw people keep em goin for so long
Any ides?

i can't do this, but a friend of mine does stick grinds while in a sprinkler. its pretty sweet
And the Lord said let there be light, and I responded "Turn it on yourself, I'm juggling!"

I am not very experienced in the world of sprinklers, but I think 5 seconds is pretty good. They are not supposed to be able to go for as long as the single does.

Sustainability is a big problem for me too. Any advice from the wise ones would be much appreciated!

(took me so long to learn the basic sprinkler its..   )

A few of the tricks I like to do with hyperloops are (LH BW 'normal' )

Whilst in the hyperloop, suicide the whole thing, catch the stick and continue the hyperloop.
Explode out of the hyperloop, this leaves you a twist in the string so walk clockwise around the shuffle to deal with the twist.
Suicide exit but catch the suicided stick in your left hand so that you are doing 2 in 1 hand (or Norbi version, transfer both sticks to your right hand before suicide)

Theres a video of Jibe performing at an open stage thing (is on art of diabolo site) and he does a double sprinkler for about 10 seconds or something daft like that. how does he do it?????????????????

Plenty of spin , fast shuffle and an old string (higher friction)  are important factors for keeping the sprinkler alive for a long time

something i've been experimenting with is reverse hyperloops or "Retro Hyperloop" i like to call. it since the move is just a loop around the diabolos u can make it rotate eithier way so i've been finding ways to make it turn anti clockwise

sure no one but an experienced diaboloist knows u've done anything different but thats not what this is all about

i've got two ways i've been trying to get into it

Left hand trapeze, throw it out hard and wrap over the top with the right stick ( doesn't seem to work that well but u can get an idea)

or

Do a normal hyperloop, go to a hyperloop grind, then throw the grinding diabolo on the stick into the string on the left. then unwrap the thing before it collapses left hand anticlockwise ( this way gives a longer one)

 8)
do it, do it ,do it, DO IT!

I have played with reverse hyperloops a bit as well. The grind method seems to work best as well. I had some thoughts about using a vortex or long vortex or another transfer (which I'm pretty poor at :( ) for the change of direction or possibbly a fan,

Another avenue I explored was to do a stick trap on the right, send the other diabolo over to form the loop, I cant get much of a hyperloop with it (in fact I'm trying to leave that part out of the move), the diabs just tumble over each other once exit to LH handtrap sun over to resume shufflle.

The real killer is that the diabolos just dont want to know spin wise, and the reverse direction still feels really unatural to me. I'd like to have a try with some bearing diabolos though.

yeah i think that the grind entry technique works best because the diabolo
is thrown up into the pattern which means the hyperloop doesn't have any weight on it, the retro-Hyperloop sure can't just sit there like a normal one but u can get 5 or 6 rotations while its weightless

i find the exit difficult i sometimes have one shoot out a couple of metres above my head

now theorectically if we could go nto a retro-hyperloop grind we could send it back again into a normal hyperloop, in fact if u could get to the grind it would fall in really naturally

Rinse wash and Repeat      Just imagine

Also another varaition i'm working on is froma normal hyperloop throw the patteren up and unwrap frontways and backways simultaniously trying so not only do u get out of the hyperloop but u unwrap the diabolos right off the string
i'm having difficulty with this though because the diabolos in a hyperloop are pretty much always moving in opposite directions so getting a good looking catch is hard
do it, do it ,do it, DO IT!

I'm really confused, you guys talking about a hyperloop where the diabolos are going round each other the wrong way?? How the hell would this work seein as its the way they spin that keeps it goin in the first place?  :?

And has anybody tried/landed that sprinkler duicide by I think Jako?  Think you told me bout this one seán_.  Double sprinkler, one a backwrap, the other a frontwrap, throw up and release sticks so they unwrap in both directions and catch...still haven't done it  :(  lol

I have been playing around with keeping the sprinkler in one hand (left hand). you can swing it between your legs in sa sexy way , but beware so you dont sprinkle yourself in a painfull way...
You can also do onehanded suns while scratching your head in a funny way...
Its also possible to release one stick and do a suicide exit from a onehand sprinkler. Personaly I dont like suicides but everyone cant have good taste... :)

Another idea is that when you are "sprinkling" release both sticks at once and quickly grab all the string parts between the diabolos with both hands and get into a stationary position. (maybe you culd hold on to the sticks and point them outwards and still grab the string). i havent a clue about how to get back into the shuffle, but it shuldnt be to hard to find out.

What about foot stalls and armstalls I think they culd be possible to do in sprinkling possition.

Some far out ideas...

If you are one of those peple who enjoy pain you culd try to catch the strings between the diabolos with your mouth. (and get your teeth "sprinkling" all over the place:))

An insane an possibly impossible trick would be to wrap the string around your arm and somehow get a sprinkler going around the arm... trick of the week if you do it:)

Jester seems to have more luck with it than me but what he says makes sense, its kind of unweighted, wont last for very long, trying it form  a hyperloop where you catch a diabolo on the stick in a grind then chuck it back seems the way to go. Matt_H assures me its been thought about back in the day but is not a goer, but everytime I give up on a trick because he tells me its impossible somebody else ends up pulling it ;)

As for the jako move its on his third video available from Diaboloumbertos site. Norbi has pulled it once I believe, I havent got anywhere near it but it is a sweet trick (the only comment we have had about the vids seem to be 'nice sticks')

Tried a bit more stuff today, if you hold 1 stick high (non-dominant hand) and 1 stick low (dominant hand) like you would in a string climb i kind of loops itsleft out, quite cool!

There's also the ability to pump or drive the sprinkler with a really fast well timed shaking motion of one or both of your hands. I've toyed with it a bit and swear I can prolong a sprinkler. I've often seen Jako playing with this too.
