Your greatest moment in diaboloing
« on: July 08, 2009, 11:54:28 AM »
My greatest moments were doing vertax for the first time (I think I cried!), and getting my g3 finesses after a year with a 2 euro diabolo. Just as a matter of curiosity, what have been your greatest moments since you have started with a diabolo?

Landing my first vertax genocide after one and a half year of practice and figuring out that the unwrap is a clockwise motion and not a counter clockwise  :-D

Damm that felt good..

Theres a lot of things for me but I think the greatest has to be either teaching myself how to do 3 diabolos in less than a year from when I picked up a diabolo, or maybe doing 4 diabolos on stage for the first time.

My best moment so far was prbably when I did a sprinkler (with suicide exit) for the first time, as my very first 2d trick.

The cake is not a lie :)

The cake is most definitely a lie!

My greatest moment would have to be when I first performed, when I started to shuffle 3 diabolos the 300 ish crowd went mental. I was nearly deafened.
Closely followed by when I first learnt to shuffle 3 diabolos after 10 months of trying.

I cant think of just one but i can think of a few. Obviously when i first cracked 3D after less than 1 year of diaboloing all together, my first ever feed the sun 1-2-3 which i did infront of barnesy and swinging fan which took me 15 months to get.

It took you shorter time to learn 3d than swinging fan? Wow, I gotta get started on 3d then... ;)

The first time I looked down and realized I had control of 3 diabolos on my string. I will never match that high again. Ever. Hence my addiction.

Some other 'greatest moments'
-nailing my first triple sprinkler suicide (the first 2d trick I wanted to learn)
-finally getting 3d low suns to 'click' after ~4-5 years of nearly daily work. Yes, you read right, you 13 year old instants. I spent 1/3 of your life failing at 3d suns.

And some people related 'greatest moments'
-meeting Priam in person in ~2003 after idolizing his online videos for ages
-Baptiste arriving and pulling off a 3d suicide at that same convention and watching JiBe work on 4d.
-Everything Ryo Yabe did when I first met him in ~2003.
-Hanging out with the MFP in Vegas at WJF 1 for a week.
-My Tour de Diabolo 2009 in Europe. Meeting up and diaboloing with Matt, Nev, Sean_, Duncan, Dave, Tom, Arjan, Martijn, Ceri-Anne, and Marijn. Despite the snow, my cold, and going for 3 days without sleep it re-ignited my passion.

And that was a nice trip down memory lane...

Thanks the best one I've read.

Mine would have to be the end of my AGT grand final when I just realised that everything went perfectly and the crowd were going mad. I got two tanding ovations for one act. It took about 12 hours to come off a high like that.

Also my first feed the sun 2-3. I was just so amazed because it was a clean one off, and before I had gotten 42* or a sun separately!

Great thread. Put me in a good mood for the day! :)

OK, everybody, William wins. Full Stop. I remember seeing the vid on youtube, but I don't remember if you won or not.It was great to see a diaboloist in beating all the generic dancers and kids singing Disney songs *sigh*.

Probably my funniest/greatest moment was when little kids have come up to me and asked "is it true you invented milking the cow?"

ouuuuuuuuuuu good thread.

Most surreal- I did a hen do the other night and after the show me and Simon got surrounded by the audience of lovely ladies as they ran round us singing "lets hear it for the boys".

Most impressive-  Getting bigged up by Peden on stage [technically not diabolo but due to diabolo]

Most satisfying-  A Pirouette under two high on stage the other day, didn't get a massive crowd reaction and isn't partically hard for most people but made me feel like a pro.

Most comical? thats a whole different post that I may compile one day.
